DonDiego has lived in lots of places where lots of folks have lots of guns.
Why in Arizona, where "open carry" is legal, poor old DonDiego'd sometimes see folks carrying revolvers on their hips in downtown Prescott, . . . just like in the Good Old Days. In fact right nearby The Palace Saloon where Wyatt Earp, Virgil Earp and Doc Holliday used to hang out
before they went to Tombstone, . . . in the
Really Good Old Days.
Them folks, . . . the ones DonDiego saw, not the Earps and Doc, . . . never shot nobody so far as DonDiego could tell.
And up heh' in Appalachia, . . . why heckfire !, . . . there's plenty of firerms, . . . 'specially as hunting season opens when young hunter's pawn their goods to get a "new" hunting' rifle.
Them folks aren't going about shooting' significant numbers of folks, . . . 'ceptin' maybe by accident.
Nope, . . . DonDiego supposes the likelihood of criminal misuse of a firearm and crime generally is less due to the density of weapons in a neighborhood, . . . and more likely due to the density of miscreants and felons in the neighborhood. Some neighborhoods are just "bad".
But that's jes' poor old DonDiego's experience in livin' lots of different places.
The link reporting the increase in Swiss gun sales is based upon "applications for gun permits". DonDiego wouldn't be surprised if lots of gun-crimes are committed by folks without the applicable permits.
Oh, . . . and by the way, . . . at 2.am. local time on 1 January 2016 the "Windy City" of Chicago experienced its first homicide of The New Year, maybe a mile or so from where teechur and DonDiego spent a few nights in a hotel in October, . . . and quite near The Obamas' house, . . . and pr'bly jes' a mite too close to a bad neighborhood.
