HOLD ON TO YOUR FREAKING HATS (again)

You think Resort Fees suck the big one, you ain't seen nothin' yet.

Digging deeper into your wallet

Tightening slot/video poker payoffs, bastardized 6/5 blackjack, ripoff "resort fees" and now, parking fees. These corporate "bean counters' are some sorry bastards.
As someone who almost always drives to Vegas and usually stays at a MGM resort hotel, I would definitely change my allegiance over to other hotels.

[EDIT] It isn't that I can't afford it, it is a matter of principle. Just like the Delano testing paid valet and having it fail, I would want to boycott MGM and hope that market forces would make them change it back.

I sure do miss the Las Vegas I used to visit in the early 1980's

Living in Florida, cruising looks better and better.

Vegas and the Vegas traveler have changed dramatically since my first trip in 1984. Many folks NOW expect to stay at hyper-luxury multi-billion dollar resorts. Many of these folks call Harrah's Casino, for example, a "rat hole". By 1984 standards, today's Harrah's would have been an 8 on a scale of 1-10, yet today it's a 3.

If you expect to stay and play at a resort that cost $4 billion to construct, expect to pay a bunch of money. It doesn't really matter if this "bunch of money" is paid in one sum, or the amount is subdivided into room, resort, and parking fees. Either way, they are going to charge you what they believe the market bill bear.

The anger that some display baffles me.

The ONLY thing that baffles me is the fact that anyone defends the continual gouging that lemmings accept at face value.
Every business gouges to the extent that they can. In fact, it's management's fiduciary responsibility on behalf of their stockholders to charge as much as possible while maximize profits. Your can choose to pay their price or not.

I choose not. You, on the other hand, go ahead and enjoy being gouged.
This isn't from building high priced resorts, it is due to HIGH DEBT from acquired resorts. We are talking prices acquisition prices much higher than the hotel ever cost to build. They have choking interest payments to make twice a year. This is why we need competition in the market place.
I more often than not stay at the Golden Nugget.
