Horse racing pools in Las Vegas casinos

Does the money go into the race track pools or do they book the bet ?
When I bet at my home casinos it all goes to one big pool at the race track. I assume it's the same for all casinos.
Yes. One pool. Otherwise the odds would be to easy to control.
I don't know if any of the sports/race books hold all the action like they used to. Most of them use the pari mutual pool to protect themselves.

At this time, am only aware of one racebook in Nevada that is non pari-mutuel, and that is the MontBleu, South Lake Tahoe, and not sure of that. Over a year since was last in, and at that time, betting and payoff limits were rather limited. Virtually all other books went pari-mutuel in the early 90's. An exception was an off strip place called the Sport of Kings, which has a place in Las Vegas history. They offered such things as fixed odds wagering and unlimited bets and payoffs, their management smug in their belief that all horseplayers were dumb and losers and could not be winners. The sharpies and wiseguys beat their brains out, and pounded them, inflicting heavy losses on the place. That, coupled with bad management and employee thievery, caused them to cease operations after only a few months.
