How 'bout That NFL ?

I'm pretty sure thats what brees, manning and brady have allready done this. Haven't they?

>>>The one thing the Owners do know is whatever they do they cannot be perceived as acting in concert, because the last thing they want is for someone, . . . a player?, . . . to file an anti-trust lawsuit. If that were to happen the NFL-as-now-constituted would cease to exist. So the Owners are on eggshells.<<<

Anyway,I am FIRMLY in the camp of F 'EM. I could care less right now. Both sides make my stomach turn. Open the books for employees???? Yea right! Not sharing a little more of the pie??? Sheesh, how much do you need? Not like you have to report to shareholders or anything.

Rant over.

J<---pretty sure i'll watch if the season is played albeit with a little bitterness my mouth.

jatki99 is correct.

DonDiego had been aware of the Brady et al v. NFL lawsuit but did not realize its anti-trust nature. Hmm, . . . DonDiego predicted this lawsuit retroactively. Wow, . . . he is good!

Good offensive tackles that are blocking on the quarterback's blind side are generally the second highest paid player on the team (right after the quarterback). An offensive tackle may not be sexy, but Manning can't exist without a good line.

Totally agree with you. One of the reasons Manning got killed last year was the lack of a running game. Shoring up the line for him helps the team in all categories. Again, not a sexy pick, but any GM will tell you the key to winning is to build from the O- and D-lines and work your way out...

My problem with this whole mess is why is it so hard for millionaires/billionaires to figure out how to split a 9 billion dollar pie.Is it such a stretch to say let's split it in half and be happy with that or am I just being extremely naive?

They already did a few years ago, and signed a contract agreeing to the split. But now the owners want to walk away from the agreement they made with the players.

I really hope this doesn't screw up my Vegas contests. They'll probably have some sort of "rules" that would apply if there is a strike or lockout. I realy hope that none of this takes place as I'm already chomping at the bit to start playing in these contests.
Woo Hoo - My Bears drafted a stud O lineman.....maybe he can help keep Cutler off his duppa!

I did not realize that. That really takes greed to new levels.
DonDiego's beloved Eagles grabbed the best Guard in the 2011 Draft, Danny Watkins, . . . should protect Michael Vick and help LeSean McCoy in the running game too.

So far, so good.

Now, all they need to do is resolve the labor dispute.

I dont think so. I beleive its more players greed actually. They want the books cracked to see what owners residual(for lack of better term)revenue the players can grab a piece of. Stadium rev's, merchandising revs etc.
If I remeber right the previous CBA had the players getting 67% of all TV bucks. Yes.2/3 TOO the players. And i dont think that 67%included the funding of the retirement fund and whatever other fund the NFL administers for the players. The teams fund that thru moneys paid to the league.

Of course I may be wrong, but I'm definitely pretty certain on that 2/3 number. I remember because last time, Ithought that was an extremely equitable deal.

I still think its more the players greed than the owners. The owners dont think the players should be able to dictate to them that much and be that powerful over them. I mean, geez, they only own the team. The players make obscene amounts of money as it is and I dont think they have the right to make their boss open the books to them. I still say ,SCREW 'EM all,I can live a season and would actually love to see updates in the news about how the "poor ole players"are having trouble making the mortgages on their mansions and such. Be laughing my butt off.
