How close can you get ................

....... WITHOUT RECEIVING A W-2G TAX FORM ????

I HIT THIS PROGRESSIVE ROYAL AT THE ORLEANS BACK IN MAY.

Rick

Congrats!
Good job!
Atta boy!

I've raised this question before. I argue its better to play VP at the 25c level instead of 50c because you dont pay taxes on the former (unless you are a boyscout). The 1000 coin royal on the latter is really only 700 coins (give or take) after taxes. I dont know how that figures into the math of the overall payback of the machine - but I imagine it drags it down to something far less than 100%

You don't pay any taxes if you have losses to offset the wins. And who doesn't have enough losses to offset the wins. More money is more money.

Congrats on the hit!

It locks up the machine even though there's no W2G. Interesting. Wonder why.
Yay! I love seeing RFs. I've hit a couple of VP progressives close to $1200, but not quite this close. The last time at M Resort, silly me sat and waited at least five minutes to see an attendant before I realized I could just print out the TITO.

We used to play at Harrah's in Shreveport quite often and there were two $5 machines in the High Limit area that paid $1199 as the top prize. They would hit 3 or 4 times a session for us, although you had to invest hundreds to hit it, and hope it cycled through again before your investment ran out 99% payback - ah, those were the days.
Although I almost always play $'s, I was walking by a progressive DDB at RR last fall and it was at $1,193.00. For the hell of it sat down at a machine when someone got up in front of me (they were all full). Damn, if I didn't hit within a couple of plays...talk about dirty looks. But yours was closer!

Some places you can cash out with a TITO on jackpots under $1200. Some places still make them a hand pay jackpot, even though no W2G is issued. I think the places that still do the hand pay are just looking to see their slot employees make some tips.

Right. Bellagio has a bank of quarter (or 50 cent?) progressive VP machines.
Royal Flush of course is progressive, but also, the 4OKs and SF, etc.

All the progressives require a hand pay, which is really annoying for the small wins, to have your machine lock up and have to sit there and wait.

On the positive side, they are usually pretty quick to come and pay, since no paperwork is involved.
Nice hit! My experience with quarter progressives is that they usually round up to the next quarter. So $1199.75 would pay $1199.75 with no W-2G. $1199.76 would round up to $1200.00 with a resulting W-2G.
