How do you deal with posters (here) that annoy you?

In over seven years, I think I've received one nasty PM, so I don't think that's generally part of the culture here. I suspect these are attempts to bully you because you are a woman. The cowards perceive (incorrectly!) that you are weak and an easier target.

I've come pretty close to ignoring, but haven't yet.To date no one has ever made me evn think of it , if so, I don't recall. Only reason I consider it now is it becomes kinda irritating seeing someone being such an A-hole for nothing more than the sake of being an A-hole, IE troll. Same thing in real life, if I'm standing around at a party and one of the people is just being a complete jerk, I'll move on to a different group and talk to them.

I've never even considered PM'ing anyone, which makes me think of another question. Have you ever reported anyone (or thread) to a mod? I've never done that either.

Once. Technically, twice; it was the same poster, twice.

First time he initiated a thread about assassinating President Bush, . . . second time a thread about "Who would you like to kill in Las Vegas?"
Both times DonDiego suggested to the moderator that Mr. Curtis prob'ly would like the threads removed. They were.

I will never let somebody I don't know, who I most likely will never meet, who has no bearing on my life, ever get under my skin. There are many, many people who I suspect don't have much of a life and they love the internet because they can spout off whatever they want without any repercussions other than maybe being banned from a website.

If there are some here that are starting to really piss you off do what I do when some jerk weed on TV starts rubbing me the wrong way, change the channel or turn it off.

I have reported people on FaceBook...but never on a message board.

I use voodoo dolls. So, if you're having some unexplained pains... You've annoyed me.

If you receive a PM from someone you have never PM'ed nor did you answer, is it wrong to share that PM?
At what point does it become personal? When it is sent or responded to?
I'm thinking if you respond.

Treegirl, in the 7+ years I've been posting here, I've only received one PM from someone letting me know how he thinks of me. I'm guessing the dude may have contacted you because he had a problem with me agreeing with something you posted on another thread. Referred to us as 'nagging ladies" and said he put me on ignore. I made light of it on the other thread and have moved on.

To answer your question, I scroll past posts from people I don't want to read. I've reported one person to a mod because that person, every chance he got, used obscenities to verbally attack one of my friends.

DonDiego, I'm always interested in what you have to say.

We could use a good public shaming around here. But I suspect the threat to do so will do the trick.
