How do you deal with posters (here) that annoy you?

oh hey, its a passive aggressive thread made in response to a private message.

to answer the thread title, 99% of the time i deal with the posters here who annoy me (its a large majority) by doing drive by lurking, glancing at thread titles, see who responded last and then not clicking any of them. the other 1%, i come inside and make a snarky comment before going back to not reading any of the crap posted on here.

i am down to checking this board at most, once a week.

dgp, don't use big words you don't understand. treegirl has been the opposite of passive- aggressive; she directly announced that she was receiving unwanted PMs and solicited advice on how to deal with the douche.

Now if we would just have a public shaming, that would be aggressive-agressive.

she could have ignored the messages. or if they were so horrible, report the poster. instead she started a thread hoping that all y'all would play her white knight. then the message sender would read the thread and leave her alone because other people are playing her protector. its the very definition of passive aggressive.

Actually I'm just fucking with the azz who PM'ed me. I was never threatened nor did I need any white knights to come riding up to protect me. I do just fine for myself.

But thanks for your input!

Treegirl, in the 7+ years I've been posting here, I've only received one PM from someone letting me know how he thinks of me. I'm guessing the dude may have contacted you because he had a problem with me agreeing with something you posted on another thread. Referred to us as 'nagging ladies" and said he put me on ignore. I made light of it on the other thread and have moved on.

To answer your question, I scroll past posts from people I don't want to read. I've reported one person to a mod because that person, every chance he got, used obscenities to verbally attack one of my friends.

DonDiego, I'm always interested in what you have to say.

Hmm, what happened to our t-shirts?

I have a few on my list I don't care for. Some I totally ignore and do not respond to anything they post and others I sort of enjoy getting "into it" with.
But I never send them a PM to let them know what I think of them.
I say if this is how you react on a message board you have more to worry about than me.

In over seven years, I think I've received one nasty PM, so I don't think that's generally part of the culture here. I suspect these are attempts to bully you because you are a woman. The cowards perceive (incorrectly!) that you are weak and an easier target.

That would be a mistake for sure. Based on my observations, Treegirl can handle herself quite well and only a fool would try to bully her. I would respond to her as "Yes ma'am" or No ma'am" if she told me to do so.

At what point does it become personal? When it is sent or responded to?
I'm thinking if you respond.

It's OK if you want to share it, TG. I know you can't stop thinking about me.

Yet another insult, but you never insult anybody, right?
never mind.

Don't go thinking you're going to get away with that, frugal. Someone will be here soon to vigorously disagree with you.
