How do you sleep the night before?

We usually have an early flight, so we have to be up around 4:30 to get to the airport by around 6am. Since I fear sleeping thru the alarm, I don't sleep much.

Have taken up setting the regular alarm and both cell phones. That seems to work better.

But by 7pm on the first day I am still ready for sleep.

GOOD LUCK IN VEGAS !!!!!

Rick
I've had the times where I'm so excited I can't sleep and if we have an early flight where we have to be up 4:30 - 5:00 AM, I've found myself staying awake all night. This usually results in a bit of a nap on the plane. But the magic of Vegas has a way of making me forget all about the need for sleep.

Lately, I've found that if I put in a Vegas related movie (of which we have many and I watch them pretty steadily a few weeks before the trip) I know the movie so well I can watch in bed with my eyes closed and "see" everything that's going on. This usually allows me to fall asleep before the movie is over - typically 1:00 AM.

Best of Luck!!!
Sleep is unpredictable, very excited, sometimes sleep good, others bad. Solved problem by taking the red eye out of Ny to get into Vegas after midnight. Sleep is so-so due to excitement, but at least I am there.

Fatigue is almost always an issue for me on the first day of the trip. Usually keyed up and excited the night before and getting to sleep and staying asleep is difficult. Because I drive and not fly it makes it tougher. The usual pattern is to arise very early and leave by 5:00 AM, 6 at the latest, in order to be clear of the SoCal metro area before the morning traffic builds up. It is about 275 to Las Vegas or Laughlin and nearly 500 miles to Lake Tahoe, so by the time I get there after perhaps getting only 4 or 5 hours sleep the night before, am usually really dragging. This is why never gamble the first night of a casino resort trip, not sharp mentally or physically, just check in, get something to eat, and go to bed early. Being well rested and sharp the next day does seem to help.
We will get there about 10pm tonight. I"m anticipating a 3pm crash in the room, after many gin and tonics and a couple of royal flushes. Hoping to squeeze in a short nap today, if the wife leaves to go do some errands
Since I am coming from NY, I have to deal with jet lag

Not too good

Along with 2 setting alarms, I drink a lot of water before bed, so I'll be up in time.

Rick
i meant a 3AM crash, obviously. We have an enormous (2200sq ft) suite we are sharing with another couple. When we get there we'll check out the goodies they have for us (last time they gave us an enormous fruit basket), and immediately start drinking. I found a company that distributes "old school" pops and candies and stuff like that. I contacted the manager, and got them to ship a case of "Pop Shoppe Pop" to Southpoint. The host is putting it up in the room for us with a nice card. My friend was obsessed with that pop when we were kids, so it'll be a nice surprise for him. The people at Southpoint have been awesome. I can't wait to get there, put my first $20 into the Super Times Pay machine, and kick back with a gin and tonic.....

Campion, you are a wonderful man and friend.

Personally, can't sleep the night before. I try and try, multiple attempts. Always up at 2 - 230am; leave home by 4 - 415am, to catch the 620am flight out of here!
