How far back have you.....

....traced your ancestry? Anyone cool in your family tree?

Thinking about that becuause my dad turns 74 today. His great (x5) grandfather Hilaire Limousin Beaufort (1633), came over to Quebec from France on a ship called the L'Aigle d'Or, part of the first deployment of troops in what is generally called the "Iroquois Wars". The lineage looks like this (ending with me): Christopher Wayne Brunelle (1972) <- Clayton Wayne Brunelle (1939) <- Alphonse Brunelle (1897) <- Rosas Isaie Brunelle (1858) <- Zepherin Brunelle (1810) <- Antoine Brunelle (1767) <- Pierre Jacques Brunelle (1727) <- Joseph Menard Limousin Beaufort dit Brunelle (1692) <- Hilaire Limousin Beaufort (1633).
I can go back as far as my grandparents and then I'd have to learn to read Russian.
I'm told my tenth(or close) generation grandmother was Pocahontas. My Grandma and mom don't have much reason to lie about it so I take it it for it's it's worth.

I got someone back there who landed in Virginia in the 1620's. That's the farthest back my mom has been able to get on Ancestry.com.

We have traced back to the 1500's The Randolph House in Williamsburg Virginia belonged to one of my very great grandfathers (Randolph is my maiden name). k
Recently traced my family back to Cornwall, England in mid 1600's...Great, great grandfather & family came over to Canada around 1849. Great grandfater settled in Michigan with his brother around 1870. They married the Erwin sisters, Martha and Matilda. Great grandfather is a spitting image of my younger brother...they could be twins...uncanny.

Glasses can affect you vision; especially when they have been emptied several times........

One would hope that they don't find an ancestor who was a bad apple and was in prison most of his life.

I came close on this. One of my father's aunts did some research a few years ago. She got as far back as my great-great grandfather before she died. He was married to a Cherokee Indian woman and they had 16 children. After the Civil war ended, he had a run in with the law near Paducah, KY. A carpet bagger made a statement that there was not a decent woman in the south. My great-great grandfather got so mad about that statement that he killed the carpet bagger and moved his family to Hot Springs, AR running from the law.
He never got caught as far as I know.
