As he types, DonDiego is seated in a North Tower room at the Plaza Hotel and Casino. It's a lovely "new" room overlooking Main Street Station, with shiny new furnishings and carpet and wall coverings and an artsy-fartsy sink and 40-year-old doors with the veneer peeling and electrical outlets to which it is difficult (like crawling-on-the-floor-difficult) to plug in the laptop or impossible to plug in some of the lamps in the room.
teechur and DonDiego drove up from Laughlin yesterday, after spending the day watching all the NFL games in Tarzan's Lounge at the Golden Nugget. Oh, . . . and DonDiego had some money on the games too. After sorting everything out from his 3 straight bets (which he won) and numerous parlays and teasers (with mixed results), . . . DonDiego netted right at $1000.
Only his beloved Eagles really let him down, . . . and although the Falcons kept DonDiego in the LVA Group Survivor Pool, their failure to cover the 4-point spread in a 3-team parlay let $550 more slip through his fingers.
On the negative side, it is getting tough to find decent Jacks-or-Better low-limit slots; the best DonDiego could find in Laughlin were 9/5 or 8/6 and the shiny new machines here at the Plaza are 7/5. Oh, and the Plaza offers the "World's Most Liberal" blackjack game, which pays even-money on a blackjack.
Uh-oh! Time to go to the El Cortez - "Las Vegas Like It Used To Be".
DonDiego wishes all "Better Luck "
Don Diego needs new glasses. There are quarter 9/6 machines right at the Plaza, at Main Street-both at the Boars Head bar and in the casino, dozens of them across the street at the California and dozens more at the Four Queens.
Even better, 10/7 DB at both MSS and Cal in quarters. You can use 9-6 strategy and get 99.7%. Hold inside straights and 3 card flushes and you'll be at about 99.9%.
Not too shabby.
