How The Mighty Have Fallen . . .

"How the mighty have fallen . . ."
__ 2 Samuel 1:27

American Pharoah, became the first horse in history to complete the "Grand Slam" of American horse racing—the Triple Crown plus the Breeders' Cup Classic—after winning the 2015 Breeders' Cup Classic at Keeneland and setting a track record with a time of 2:00.07, breaking the old track record by more than five seconds.

On Monday [2 November] American Pharaoh was transported to Coolmore's Ashford Stud Farm in Versailles, Kentucky. The once proud steed is now reduced to the status of male prostitute with a price of $200,000-per-crack, . . . if that is the correct term.
Although that is likely a higher price than, say, poor old DonDiego could command for similar employment it must be quite demeaning to the noble racehorse. What will the other horses think?

Actually his new digs don't look so bad. Maybe he'll be alright after all.
What if he thinks the mare is ugly? Does he get more money for his stud service?
They all look nice from behind
Sad thing is they never get to "mount" the mare. They get them all excited and then catch the "seed". Not near as fun as DD makes it out to be. You can not take a chance on your champion stud getting injured on some "cheap piece of ass".

This is not so.

D. To be eligible for registration, a foal must be the result of a stallion’s Breeding with a broodmare (which is the physical mounting of a broodmare by a stallion with intromission of the penis and ejaculation of semen into the reproductive tract). As an aid to the Breeding, a portion of the ejaculate produced by the stallion during such mating may immediately be placed in the uterus of the broodmare being bred. A natural gestation must take place in, and delivery must be from, the body of the same broodmare in which the foal was conceived. Without limiting the above, any foal resulting from or produced by the processes of Artificial Insemination, Embryo Transfer or Transplant, Cloning or any other form of genetic manipulation not herein specified, shall not be eligible for registration.

Ref: The Jockey Club Registry

i.e. To be classified as a "thoroughbred", and thereby eligible to race in thoroughbred races the foal must be the product of horse-to-horse sexual intercourse.

However, there is no requirement that it be romantic.
DonDiego suggests the interested reader google something along the lines of "thoroughbred mating" to view YouTube videos of the process. If such an investigation results in the reader becoming, . . . umm, . . . "excited", DonDiego recommends he or she seek psychiatric counseling.

As DonDiego hinted above, the process is not romantic. American Pharaoh is in it solely for the money and the price is fixed at $200,000.

not only is the process not romantic, sometimes it can get downright violent.
