Hypnosis Shows in Vegas

Has anyone ever attended one of the "comedy/hypnosis" shows in Vegas, such as Hypnosis Unleashed or Marc Savard or Anthony Cools?

We got cheap tickets and went last week to one of the shows. Ummm, something is really wrong with this, but wanted to see what other people might think about them.
I thought Anthony Cools was naughty and funny.

I suspect the quality of each show will vary based on the personality of the people who agree to be hypnotized.
Hypnosis shows represent the rock bottom of Vegas entertainment venues. I'd rather mingle with the costumed street bums on Fremont St - at least its free.
I haven't, but a friend has been to a couple of them, and she liked them a lot.
And she isn't a nut job in any way.

I beg to differ with you PJ.

In my opinion, the ventriloquist shows are at "rock bottom".

You may have a very good point there

We saw the guy at PH(marc savard?) and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Our son was the one who really wanted to see one of these shows, I had zero interest and thought it would be really fake and super cheesy, but like i said, we all thoroughly enjoyed it. It was entertaining for sure.
Here's my opinion: We paid $5 per ticket to see Hypnosis Unleashed. I was skeptical that anyone on the stage was actually hypnotized, rather than just acting. It didn't help my opinion that out of the approximately 45 people in the audience, most of the people were sitting there like us, bored looking. Except for a few people scattered throughout the audience who were loudly laughing at EVERYTHING, clapping wildly, and chanting his name like he was a rock star. Okay. . .

So, got home and wrote a negative but truthful review of the show on a travel website. Whoa, received a private message from the guy himself (it was not flattering), plus the joy of a public response that basically claimed I lied about everything. Read it for entertainment.

Huh. It is a fact that the chairs were hard banquet chairs . . . we both had to move our chairs around several times, just to try and see the stage and to avoid a pillar. The hostess seating people rearranged the chairs to move small drinks tables also between couples. Hmm.
And yes we paid $5 each, receipt in hand.

Anyone else have experiences like this?
They had a hypnotist come to my college back in the day and I felt the same way you did - people were pretending to be hypnotized. 2 of them later admitted to it. I think some people are attention whores and dont want to confess the hypnosis failed so they do what they're told and knowingly make fools of themselves. Having said that - One person was very legitimately hypnotized and you could tell. It was entertaining to watch him - but he had to split time with all the other "fakers" on stage.

On another front - the (now closed) George Wallace show had the banquet seats like you mention. They were arranged one next to another with no space in between. Talk about awkward (and uncomfortable). Your legs would rub up against those of the people who sat on either side of you. It was tantamount to dry-humping the dude sitting next to you. Eesh! That might have been the worst experience in any Vegas show just for that reason alone....not to mention Wallace's act itself was boring... all 90 minutes of it
