Hypothetical question on guns.

Suppose we make gun ownership mandatory so every household has at least one, and we allow anyone who is not a convicted felon or has documented mental issues to carry concealed weapons, and do away with gun free zones.
Does the number of deaths by gun go up or down,in your opinion , and why?
There's a lot of variables that would factor in. Would mandatory training classes on gun safety be in place? Proper training for home invasion be required? Can people who are scared of guns still required to own one? Too many questions for a simple answer.

I think if the govt. just put a gun in every persons possession, gun deaths would rise considerably, mostly from accidental shooting would be my guess.Gun free zones are complete joke as it is, just as Ca.'s ban semi autos, means nothing.
While you are on hypotheticals suppose we make posting here mandatory so every LVA member posts at least once, and we allow anyone who is not a convicted felon or has documented mental issues to post more than once, and we do away with political posts.

Not so much legal CWP,just owning a hand gun. In your house. Maybe 2 or more.
I'll say I'm for it.
I cannot see the original post....

Short term projection -- increased shootings resulting in injury and death.
Intermediate term -- decreasing violence but still a significant number of shootings.
Long term projection -- vastly decreased violence overall.

Simply speculation.

DonDiego supposes any restrictions on convicted felons or mental cases would, practically by definition, lower the number of posts; restricting those convicted of misdemeanors would lower it even more.
Why: fewer posters = fewer posts.

Eliminating political posts would reduce the number of posts, . . . and depending what the censor deems political, perhaps significantly.
Why: observation of the significant fraction of posts which are, in fact, political posts.

For the record, the above comments are not intended as endorsement or opposition to Liondownnow's proposals.

Thanks for the assessment. I forgot this forum had an unsually high number of mental cases. To clarify, this was not a proposal it was a hypothetical.

Do previous posts count as documents?

Deaths by whom? What is your point?

My belief is that guns draw more gunfire, hence more deaths, than they prevent.

My household contains several guns (over my objections). I'm pretty sure that in a 'situation' such as home invasion, not one would be at hand for our protection, while the invader would poised and ready for battle.
