"Could lose"? That statement was even true 10-15 years ago when winning was easy. Look at Singer. He lost his inheritance and went bankrupt in the 90s when 5+% edges were available. The difference today is a matter of degrees.
The only conclusion anyone SHOULD take out of a gambling discussion is winning is based on statistical probabilities. When you increase those probabilities you have a better chance of being successful. Playing negative games with ER reducing special plays will only REDUCE one's chances of being successful.
So, stay away from people who claim math is not useful and understand the math if you want the best chance of winning.
Or, just play for fun and never gamble more than the entertainment value of that money.
