I am proud of Rand Paul

Keep Up The Good Work
DonDiego respects a man who sticks by his principles. Such men are uncommon, especially in the political sphere.

n.b. By "principles" DonDiego means a set of ethical values, not just a zealous loyalty to, fr'instance, a party.
Rand Paul would probably stand a better chance in the general election over most of his GOP buddies but I doubt he'll get through the primary.

The "small government" GOP has ambitions of making massive increases to national defense, more aggressive action in the middle east, and a 1000 mile wall along the southern border guarded by a massively expanded force that would be bigger than the FBI. Rand Paul doesn't fit into that equation because he actually represents the ideology most Republicans preach but do not practice.
Hey I'm al for the guy, as Don Diego said he stands for something(whether you love or hate 'em is irrelevant) and doesn't waver. I don't think he's wavered once since he's been in office has he? Anyway, I don't believe he is influenced by any outside interests, which I highly respect, he's one of the few. I've pretty much always liked the guy and might even vote for him if he runs for pres., as nobody and I mean none appeals to me right now anyway.

Rand Paul declared that "the hawks of our own party" are responsible for the rise of ISIS.

I love it when politicians PUBLICLY, as on TV, blame America for terrorist doings.

ISIS high fives going around now.
I dunno guys. Rand Paul says he is standing up against our loss of liberty. Yet this particular issue does little to threaten our liberties and does much to protect us against terrorism. There are A LOT of threats against American citizen's freedoms that Rand Paul remains silent on even if he is fundamentally opposed to them. It strikes me of political grandstanding.
This is an issue he has talked about a lot and even prior to running for President so I will give him full credit for it. Yes, I'd love it if he talked about other threats to our freedoms, but you have to be thankful for small victories when you get them. The fact that it made angry old John McCain even angrier is a nice bonus.

IF he stays in, he will likely get votes from the younger crowd. However, being US centric does have a great deal of disadvantages. In this day and age, leaving ISIS alone will bite us in the ass, no matter what caused their formation.
I realize and understand everyone's position on this topic. Obama and friends and their crooked actions while utilizing the powers of the IRS has pushed towards Rand Paul's position........although I used to be on the other side of this argument.

Rand Paul stands by his principles...except when he doesn't.

He once said Iran wasn't a threat to the US - but not any more. He once said we should cut off foreign aid to Israel - but not any more. He once said we should drastically cut defense spending - but not any more. He once said that private business should be able to discriminate based on race - but not any more. He once said that he heard that vaccines could cause mental disorders - but not any more.

Lots of politicians and non-politicians changed their views, but to hold Rand Paul up as a beacon of consistency and principle is a bit silly.
