I Just Don't Get It ~ VP Systems

Most everyone I know who plays video poker has a system, favorite game, strategy that works for him or her. Some will cash out when they get their first 4-of-a-kind and call it a day. Others will grind the machines until the wee hours of the morning.

Some will only play 9/6 JOB. Others will play whatever machine speaks to them. Some care about pay tables while others could give a flying flip.

Why ALL the debate over whose system/strategy is better than whom? Why debate systems and strategy thread after thread after thread?

I get that more than one person has made a career over selling their strategies and systems. Each author's philosophy is a little different. And, that's okay.

Why not play the machines, denominations, games that speak to you using the strategy and systems you believe in?

Seriously, I don't get why some people get all worked up over the way someone else chooses to spend their hard earned money.

I agree with you 100% but your use of the word "debate" is too kind. It's not a debate but more of a argument. It seems to be more the people that claim they are winners vs other people that claim they are winners vs people that lose and don't want to believe that others win except the people that win playing a strategy that some winners claim won't lead to winning ways.

On one hand, who gives a shit but on the other hand, it's entertaining to read the "debates".
There is NO real debate because virtually all VP strategy are near identical. Bob Dancer and Dan Paymar - who don't like each other very much - have almost identical stratgies. And their strategies are just about the same as those of the Wizard of Odds (Michael Shackleford) and Wolf Software and WinPoker and Jean Scott and Frank Kneeland. Any differences all of the above have are on minor issues such as the value of penalty cards.

There is one notable exception, Mr. Singer, and he stands out because he is a charlatan who tells some people what they really want to hear.

And by the way, paytables matter. Playing dollar 8/5 Jacks or Better instead of 9/6 at 600 hands per hour will cost a player on average about $70. Not a smart move, but then again, advantage players are very grateful to people like you. Without you, the jucier pay tables, plus the cash back, mailers, and drawings, would cease to exist.
Here is an example why paytables make a difference...

I normally play 8/5 Bonus Poker...

I played 7/5 Bonus Poker the other day, got 35 full houses... By playing the 7/5 game, I cost myself $175. (playing $1 denomination).

(I stopped counting full houses after 35 since it started pissing me off, but that was the best game around that day)...

Yes, paytables matter, and even Mr Singer says to play the best paytables. In fact, in the current "challenge" he picked out a casino where the best paytables are available for him to play at the denominations he wants to play.

Singer is not a charlatan. But he is certainly different, and very up front about his difference of play. Did you read his websies, did you see his videos on the web, did you see how he admits that his "plays" are NOT the optimum plays but are his option to try to win a bigger amount of money? Is that what a charlatan does-- admit to his differences and be upfront and honest that another (more acceptable) strategy does have better odds of winning the grind?

I have been reading and commenting on these various threads about Singer for the last year. I believe that his critics have NO CLUE about what his strategy is. I do concede that Singer's poor taste in dealing with his critics, and obscene comments about someone's ailing wife, has made him very unlikeable.

Singer is simply saying, what I believe, are three things:

1. yes, play the best paytables
2. set a win goal and stick to it, and when you reach it, stop playing
3. be ready to gamble when you gamble. instead of playing the grind take your shot at the big win

is that what a charlatan says?

Here we have another AP'er who is on the internet posting about charlatans instead of sitting in a casino making easy money. Ap'ers make money plain and simple, why would anyone who could make such easy money not be in a casino at least 15 hours a day?

Great post. Arci will be here soon to refute your post instead of going to the nearest casino to make an easy score.

No, but that's what the people who run the casinos say. And they say it over, and over, and over; 24/7. And you Money, are one of the many sheep who actually PAY THEM to say it to you. Scheisser is simply ECHOING them, while at the same time assuring you that he's on your side.

Why aren't you in a casino making an easy living playing video poker, instead of just posting about it? You are losing easy money every minute you are not in a casino!!!
