Get a state issued ID. You pay a nominal fee AND they are a state sanctioned ID. So you can buy booze and not drive.

You can use a passport if you have one.

My understanding is that it has to be a photo-ID issued by the state, so I'm thinking a birth certificate won't do. In our state we have a ID- card issued by the DMV which works, as do our passports. We always take two forms just in case we lose one. and we keep them in separate places.

When I lost my driving privileges in Florida, I went to the DMV and got the State Issued ID Card. There was no charge the first time because I'd had a license previously and lost my driving privileges.

It's a valid ID everywhere.
