I-PAD'ers

I'm thinking of asking for best buy gift cards this year for upcoming b-day in sept(25th, and leaving for vegas on 28th for 9 fun filled days in vegas!,YEA!) and getting an I-pad. To those of you who have one,if any here do,what are some of the things you like most about? What are the most common things you use it for? Use it jsut for specific things? ANY help help and comments, greatly appreciated.

I think lt will come in very handy for trip to vegas. Will help pass time whilst in dialisys(4 hrs,3x a week) and i think i'd really like it overall, but if its only really just a "toy" spending 800 bucks on it just for play seems a bit extravagant if that;s all it really is.

Thanks for any comments.

Angry Birds!

Wife is thinnking about getting one, and has played around with one our kids own. Can't give you any "use experience" with it; but, in looking at purchasing one, it looks like the iPad 3 is going to be released in Sept or Oct. Might want to at least consider looking into the differences between the 2 and the 3.
I have the basic. I do my mail, facebook, message boards, have my music and pics on it, I have numerous games including a casino that I can play on, read books, etc.

I have only had mine for about a month and have no idea how I lived without one.
I use it for quick and easy email and internet access. It is light weight and easy to carry. I also use it extensively on the plane. I watch movies or TV shows I have downloaded or if I want to sleep I put on my headphones and run a waterfalls or rain sound program. The battery life is fantastic, 9-10 hours. I can also use it to review presentation materials, though I still use Office programs to develop them. I may change.

PS snidely-oh,i get it,my avatar, right? Well if they're made of clay and i'm high up in the mountains with my freinds, plenty of beer and lots of meat to throw on the grill, but I leave the birds alone.
My wife LOVES hers - uses it everyday.

The only thing I might suggest, is buying it at an "Apple" store - it there's one near you.

Their customer service is superior to Best Buy, and if it needs servicing, they generally do it, in store, at the time you bring it in.
I must admit that angry birds was a big motivation factor for me.

I got my iPad 1 right after the iPad 2 came out and got a great discount on it.
You don't need lots of memory unless you plan to store a lot of videos on it.
The 3G is a nice option if you travel or like to be online at places without WiFi.
You don't need either WiFi or 3G to watch stored movies, read stored books, or to play games you have downloaded.
