I see the Republican Party establishment is taking down Trump.

"We're number two...We're number two..."

I hadn't thought about this. But you're right. And Bush following two terms of Reagan illustrates this point well.

exactly. it just doesn't work out well when we go with what some politico, or convention, thinks we should go with
Reagan was the number two choice of the Republicans in 1976, genius. And in 1956, John Kennedy came in second - for vice president.
I think the democrat establishment is hoping shrillery stops shooting herself in the foot. This week alone

1 - after a speech on climate change, she hopped on her private jet
2 - showing she is a regular person, she flew to NYC for a $600 haircut, shutting down half the store in the process
3 - refused to give a stand on the Keystone project
4 - received huge donations from a Swiss bank, after helping them with a tax problem

Except of course I made no such claims when you said I was running from my words and cowardly. I only pointed out that Bernie was not going to be the Democrat's 'establishment approved' candidate...just like Trump was not going to be the Republican approved candidate. And you didn't understand that. And you asked 'What is 'going to happen' to Bernie. And I told you he's going to lose to Hillary because she's got a lot more money. And you still didn't get it. In other words you're acting like an asshole....again....or maybe still...or you're just so politically twisted that you can't accept anything your perceived opponents say at face value.

The only problem with that theory is that nobody is paying attention to her right now. For the most part Trump is getting all the political coverage. Of course that is bad for other Republican candidates, but good for Hillary.

People are paying attention as today's Quinniapac poll has her now tied with Bush & Walker, where 2 months ago she was leading by 10
The polls also show that Trump is blowing all the other Republican candidates away in New Hampshire. He is only down 1 point in Iowa on Walker and gaining. The most mind boggling one is he is in first place in Florida by 6% over Jeb. If Trump takes these three, he is the nominee. That is why the Republican establishment and now even the Koch brothers are crapping their pants.

There is no point in talking about Jeb and Walker.

It is shocking...the huge field is divvying up 70-80% of the vote into small chunks. If they were smart, the Republican establishment would force all but a couple of candidates out after the 1st debate. If a lot of those candidates stay in through the primaries....can you imagine the Republican Convention if Trump has a plurality but not a majority?

I've got a suspicion that somehow a lot of these minor candidates are drawing fat salaries to run for President. There's money in it somehow someway.

Since the conservative media is so large, running for President as a Republican candidate is very lucrative. You get books deals, cable TV shows and of course the ability to raise funds. Even a nominal figure like Ben Carson or a person whose political career is over like Rick Santorum can milk the conservative money machine instead of having to get a real job.

A lot of people fault Sarah Palin for being dumb, but the truth is resigning her Governorship was very smart. It allowed her to cash in at the peak of her popularity when her name recognition was high. She is worth at least 12 million dollars now.

What?

That is the most backward thinking statement I have ever seen on these boards. And that's saying a lot.
