I wonder....

I remember listening to the Democrat president, John Kennedy, tell the American public. "Ask not what your county can do for you. Ask what you can do for your country."

What happened to this ideal? I wonder if anyone can enlighten me?

Greed became good.
Nobody wants to compromise any more......win at all costs for whatever your agenda may be.
If JFK were around today, he'd have to be a Republican. Tax cutting types with a stance of individual responsibility he'd be quickly shown the Dems door.

“...to water down the help they need, or merely assume that prosperity at the top will someday reach them—shocks the conscience of those who care. The increases in purchasing power resulting from a higher minimum wage will help to restore consumer demand required to put our idle industrial capacity back to work. The elimination of unfair competition based upon substandard wages will protect fairminded employers anxious to maintain fair labor standards.” - President John F. Kennedy

That was JFK shitting on trickle-down Reaganomics. Of course history has already pretty much shit on trickle-down, so there's that. And Kennedy fought for civil rights, an increase in Social Security and unemployment insurance payments, a higher minimum wage, and increased welfare payments and the introduction of food stamps.

But speaking of Reagan, how do you think a candidate who advocated increased Social Security taxes, abortion rights, immigration reform, separation of church and state, and fairer middle class tax rates compared with the wealthy would do in today's Republican Party. Ronnie would be doomed, wouldn't he?
