IAMS or Eukenuba

I feed my Shelties this...

The company is 5 minutes from my house and they have quality products so we use a lot of things from them. It doesn't hurt that my daughters work there and so we get a nice employee discount

We have a 3dog bakery here in Albuquerque. Are you here or do they have one in another town.
I work at as a vat tech and go to lots of seminars put on by various companies. I've tried various diet. My motto is by the best food you can. Also some dogsnjust do better on some diets than others.
I started feeding my dogs raw and noticed my show dogs putting on better muscle and tone. He is very active and I was having a hard time no matter what food I fed. I've tried innova, prairie, go, prpplan, blue buffalo, homemade cooked, etc. 1 week on raw and he put on weight but not fat. I'm at a dog show this weekend and he's taken best of breed 2 of the days and best oppoisite sex the first day. Today's another show so hoping for a repeat. He's Champion Pufnstuf Sleeps With Bares at Shen. He's a powder puff chinese crested and were very proud of him.

3 dog bakery is a chain. we have one in Memphis too

Congratulations Chic! I used to enjoy going to dog shows when my Godmother was showing her Great Danes. I try to go to the Philadelphia Dog Show when funds permit. I enjoy that show especially, since it is a benched show and you can talk to the various owners and breeders at the show.
Either one is better than the Circus Circus buffet.

That's the definition of a very good weekend at the dog show! Good going cc and congrats to your boy!

FYI- there is very little profit margin on food sold at a veterinary clinic. Many only stock "prescription diets" for special conditions. We cannot nor would like to carry tons of inventory....that's what PetsMart is for.

I totally agree with vets stocking the prescription diets - that's what they should be doing. Perhaps your clinic doesn't carry other stock however most vets in our area do also stock a fairly large supply of regular food from a handful of those companies who send their sales reps out to the clinics. Needless to say, they recommend what they sell. There is still a profit made on those sales, and you don't see many of them telling their clients to use a brand they don't stock. Nor would I expect them to, just go in with your eyes open.
As with anything you purchase, take all the recommendations/claims/warnings with a big grain of salt. Everyone has their own unique experience with foods that do or don't work for their dog. The fact is, no one brand is the be all & end all for every dog.

my vet stocks some dog food and the food she recommended is not one they sell there

We stock royal canin and science diet prescription diets. We also carry regular diets. The vets recommend different diets they basically want healthy pets to eat a good food and not kibbles n bits or old Roy.

Me I chose raw because I wanted to put some weight on my boy to show and he's a picky eater but gobbles the raw diet.

By the way he was in a 4 day cluster of shows this weekend and took Best Opposite Sex, Best of Breed, Best of Breed, and Select Dog. Which means all 4 days he was awarded points toward his Grand Championship. I'm happy and glad the weekends done.
