Ice cream thieves

As it's getting to summer and the temps are getting hot (they were the last 2 weeks), I get the hankering for ice cream. I remember as a kid we used to get those chocolate covered ice cream bars on a stick, those things seemed to take forever to eat they were so big. Well, fast forward 40 years or so. I went and bought some, boy was I in for a shock. Those damn things shrunk!!! They are about 1/2 the size they used to be. Hell, I had to eat 2 of them just to take care of my ice cream fix.

They keep this up and I'm only buying gallons of ice cream to eat at night.

Chef, to have one gallon of ice cream you're going to need more than two half gallons. Go figure.

There used to be an extra long ice cream bar called "sidewalk sundae". I don't think they are made any more.
Gallons are not "Gallons" any longer. They've shrunk also.

64 oz containers became 56 oz containers and now those are 48 oz containers, go figure.

chefantwon, are you sure your not twice the size you were as a kid so they look half size now!!!! No, I understand. I bought a Payday candy bar the other day. 3 bites and it was gone. Not large like it used to be. A summer memory for me as a kid growing up on the farm hauling hay was for 5 Cents getting a nice size glass bottle of Coke from the gas station down the road that was iced down. That was refreshing and it sort of burned the throat on the way down. Ice cold coke in an aluminum can isn't the same and it cost 75 cents to a dollar.
Thats the NEW MATH for you...
Good Humor bars have shrunk more than 25% over the last two decades. The one product that hasn't shrunk is their Chipwich, as that is licensed and they can't screw with the size. I leased a GH truck one summer in the 80s and became good friends with the owners son, who was a few years younger than me. His father retired a few years ago and left him the business- some 100 trucks and several hundred retail stops.
Some serious money in the ivce cream industry.

Not when the bars measure no more than 3 fingers wide. (somewhere between 2 1/2" and 3").

Well, the Pepsi's I drank could be bought for $0.17 for a 16 oz bottle. This was back when you returned the glass bottles and got money for them.

There's alot of stuff they don't make anymore, however one thing they DO make is those orange push up pops.
