ICE ICE BABY..

Man, we got wahcked with an ice storm last night, sucked. I'd rather have 12" of snow than ice, plus our power went out and never came back on til an hour ago which is unusual for us. Our neighborhood has underground utilitys so our power has never been down for more than an hour in the 15 yrs we've lived here, it was getting downright chilly in here, brrrr.
Well it's finally warming up, got some thing hot to eat and returning to normal.

We did have one funny moment. Our son had to be at work @ 4:30 or whatever and really wanted a nice hot shower before he had to leave. So he waited a a few to let the water warm up, timing everything so he could have decent shower time and get to work on time. He no lsooner jumped in and BAM, power out hehehe. Could hear him yell out something unintelligible but I'm sure I knew kinda what it was. Fortunately it came back on after 30 secs or so, but I couldn't help but chuckle

Man, I can sympathize with you John.

We had a bad one here in Mass. a couple of years back.
I lost power (no heat, lights, water/well) for about 4 days.
Had to hand saw leaned-over birch trees as they were across the driveway and blocking my exit,
but only after I stuggled trying to lift my garage double-door (remember no electric).
The house got down to 33* at night. We froze that night.
Packed it up and spent one night at my son's and one night at Foxwoods in Conn.

.......... and something really scary is listening to an ice storm at night,
when everything is pitch black, and the trees and branches are cracking, breaking and falling.
It sounds like a war is going on outside.
The following spring it took me quite a few weekends to clean up all the debris.
