If I have to drive to Victorville to catch the bullet train, then I may as well continue driving on to Las Vegas

Since this thing has been talked up since the 70's, do we have to wait another 40 years for Phase 2? They are going to get a very poor indicator of ridership if people have the hassle of driving to Victorville to catch this thing. If they did something like Ontario, I'd be willing to drive that distance. Victorville is well over an hour away from the L.A. area, and if there is afternoon traffic, it could be well over two hours.

Yeah, I seriously doubt it will have enough ridership to ever complete the whole project. They've been debating that project here in Utah for quite some time. Too many scenic areas could be destroyed by this project incl. the I-15 corridor that runs thru Kolob Canyon area where I live.
actually, what is needed is some sort of mass transit link from the metro areas. it could be a bus, or a light rail system. spending so much on a high speed rail line with a station at Victorville without links to it is what makes no sense to me.
