If you are going to Vegas please show some love to the Downtown Grand

If they are successful with this, then maybe some other places will want to keep up with the Joneses. You have a better chance of winning or at least you should lose less.

March 15, 2016 19:03 Looser Games at Downtown Grand: The Downtown Grand is loosening its games. Already paying 3-2 on all blackjack games, several 9/6 Jacks or Better schedules for quarters are now available on the floor. Additionally, an email to players indicates that DG is dealing no-commision buy bets at craps and offers the "loosest video keno payables" at the bar. We'll check it out for the April LVA
When we stayed there a couple years ago we tried to play there but the table selection was terrible. There was one $5 blackjack which was full then a $25 table with one person playing and a $100 table with no one playing. They also had 4 or 5 carnival game tables ( 3 card poker etc. ) with one or no one playing. A $25 table is a little above me and I do not like the carnival games. We played a little $5 craps then went elsewhere. They had a $10 baccarat table I would have played but it had a reserved sign on it with no one playing or was not open the three days we were there. To me this is just stupid, the only table that was full was the $5 BJ why not have more of what works, you make no money having a guy stand at an empty $100 table all day. Have a second low limit BJ table even it it is $10. Switch the no one playing $100 to $10 or $5 or switch some of the carnival games to BJ. Get people playing and they will come back. We saw lots of people come in walk around and leave. This is just bad management, hard to feel sorry for them when they are the ones hitting themselves over the head.
Hope have gotten better management and these changes work and they can stay open.
Good for them. I think they're finding their niche. They tried to be the Golden Nugget when they first opened. That didn't fool anyone. They've been moving more towards the El Cortez model the last year....loose games, cheap limits, good comps, ....and the main restaurant has reportedly improved. I've always had fun in there and their hotel staff gets an A+ for service.
No commission buys on craps?!?!?!

You can walk up and get true odds on all the points???

That's no house edge!!! At all. Nothing. Nada.

Oh, I am there!!! I think I will make a trip this weekend. I might just leave tomorrow!

Sounds good, we have been there twice and got beat up in short order both times. Didn't think I'd go back, but I really kind of liked the place outside of the losing. Third times a charm, I'll try it again when we stay downtown in May.
often times when a promotion IS "successful" they pull it early and end up frustrating even more gamblers.
I have tried really hard to like the DG. I do like the rooms and the pool. they alienated me when they would send me "free" room offers and then when I would try to call and book a room, they just kept saying not available. so I asked them point blank -- what nights are available? they couldn't give me any. so, just recently they sent me offers again and this time I made 2 bookings. we shall see how it goes. it is not unusual to have this kind of on again off again relationships with casinos. I do hope they will find their niche.
There used to be a time share wing at the Lady Luck. Did it reopen, does anyone know?
