I'm back! My review of the Cosmopolitan & the Monte Carlo

Well, I got back this past Saturday afternoon. I stayed at the Monte Carlo for 2 days and the last day was at The Cosmopolitan. First, the Monte Carlo.

Monte Carlo, the good:

Loved it! Painless check-in.
Room was very clean!
Great strip view.
Easy access to valet and front desk from elevators.
Very friendly staff.

The bad:
I ate at Subways and got sick off the sandwhich, as did my girlfriend. I was very dissapointed about this, as I sat at the Santana concert with a bad stomach ache. I'll never eat there again.

Other than that, I loved the Monte Carlo and I will definitely stay there again.

The Cosmopolitan:

The Good:
Very nice rooms and hotel. Laid out very nicely and the view from my one bedroom terrace suite was amazing.
Awesome hot tub and shower.
Very comfortable bed.
Plenty of hot water for being on the 44th floor.

The bad:
On first arrival it took 1.5 hours to check in.
Crap view from first room.
Girlfriend found sticky substance on table in dining room.
White stains all over couch.
Buffet was total crap.
Waaaaayyyy over crowded hotel overall.

I was very dissapointed with the Cosmo. When I finally got to check in, the front desk girl asked "you will only be staying with us one night?" I told her yes and she told me she was going to find me a room. She left and had us waiting for 15 minutes and then came back. She told us we had our wraparound suite on the 16th floor.

Upon arriving to the room, I entered and went to look at the view, first thing. I found myself staring at a solid wall where there were chillers and ventilation units. I literally couldn't see anything, except for a little bit of the pool area, where people were all staring at me when I came out on the balcony. They were literally 30 feet way from me. Felt like I was on the 5th floor not the 16th.

I immediately called front desk and told them I didn't like my view. They told me there were no more wraparound suites available and that they could give me a one bedroom terrace suite. Which at this point I didn't care if I had to downgrade. So I get to the new room on the 44th floor, it was amazing and to my satisfaction. My girlfriend was also impressed. Front desk only refunded me $50 in dinner credit, which was bs.

On to the buffet we went. The food was horrible, the desserts were pretty darn good though. $21 per person for lunch and $26 per person at dinner. We had lunch. Food looked old and dried out, very bland. Planet Hollywood's buffet outranked this one by a mile. I'll never eat at their buffet again.

The resteraunts were super packed and the line for the nightclub (Marquee) was outrageous. Not that I like clubbing, but if you do, good luck getting in. There was no way of getting into any of the resteraunts. They were all super packed. Except for this little secret pizza place hidden away from everything. It was pretty darn good!

Overall, the hotel was very smokey, very crowded and like someone said here earlier, it is full of yuppies that can barely pay their car loan and are trying to look like ballers. Very young crowd overall and I am 35 years old. I'll never stay there on a weekend. Maybe a Tuesday or something, but not on a weekend. When I checked out by phone Saturday morning, I walked through the lobby and check-in was outrageous!!!! There were tons of people. Must of took some people over 2 hours to check in.

I am not a very picky person and for that, I wasn't impressed at all with the Cosmo. I couldn't imagine a picky ass person staying there with what happen to me.
franco, Welcome back! I'm glad you enjoyed the Monte Carlo after your bad experiences at the Rio. Maybe the walls are "thicker" now....LOL. I hope you all had a lot of fun.

Is the "secret pizza" out in the open or is it hidden somewhere (hence the name secret pizza)?
I think it's named "Pizza Place" or something like that. No, it's actually hidden, I think it's on the 3rd floor right next to the Marquee nightclub.

Oh yeah, the walls at the Monte Carlo were thin just like you said lmao!!! I could literally hear the neighbor's conversation cleary. Both neighbor's lol. So I am sure they heard my girlfriend and I. I think we kept them up late. Because the next morning when I went to go grab some ice, the old man opened the door immediately to see who I was, when I exited my room. He just peeked out and then closed the door lol.

Yes, the Monte Carlo more than made up for my stay at the Rio. I will be going back to Vegas in October. We had tons of fun. I also hit the tables for the first time playing BJ. I played at NYNY. I was up $200, then they changed the dealer on me and she took all my money back. I played slots at the Cosmo, they were loose, or at least the ones I played were. I put in $1.00 in a penny machine and won $50! Then I continued playing. i pretty much won my losses back at the Cosmo, from playing slots.
Thanks again for the update. I'm glad you guys had fun. We'll be hitting town in June and can't wait. You sound like good people that now how to have fun.

We were on our way to the pizza place and found the burger place which is quite good.

Agree that there a lot of tire kickers walking around, making for an overcrowded feel, very little vp. Overall not in love.

The Secret Pizza Place is actually on the 3rd Floor next to Jaleo. All you see is a semi-dark hallway that leads to a pinball machine (shades of the 50s!) and a small TV monitor mounted high in the corner at the end of the hallway. On both sides of the hallway are album covers from years past. Then once you get to the pinball machine, you take a look right. There is the pizza kitchen. NO MENU! Just ask.

Oh, and they deliver to the room too. Just press "Beck and Call" on the phone.

Loved my stay there in March and in April.
Oh, the secret pizza place is just called "Pizzaria".
