04/11-04/14 Total trip.
04/11-04/13 Stayed at Wynn.
04/13-/4/14 Stayed at the Strat.
It was my girlfriend and I. We left San Diego at about 12pm and got to Las Vegas by 4:16 pm. It was Wednesday and there was lot's of traffic on the strip. We rolled in to Wynn and were greeted by the valet which is awesome there as usual. Had the bell boy take the luggage and were directed to registration.
When we arrived at registration, there were only about three people in line. It was our turn, so we walked up to a young lady in her late 30's. She greeted us and was very nice. I was thinking if I should try doing the $20 trick, but chickened out. Out of the blue, my ballsy girlfriend asks for complimentary upgrades, yikes
The young lady said sorry, but she could upgrade us to a deluxe panoramic room for $50 more a night. I asked, "how about a panoramic corner room for the same price?". She asked how I knew about those rooms and I told her I been browsing the Wynn website for 2 years on and off, she laughed. The young lady made some calls, then went to speak to a manager. She said that would be fine, yesss!!!
We were put on the 59th floor, right below the 2 story villa on the north west corner. The room and view were amazing!!!!!! Damn, I felt like a high roller for the first time in my life, even though I'm not even close lol. My girlfriend was very impressed and couldn't believe we got that room. If you ever stay at Wynn, the room number is 5967. Yeah, it was far from the elevator, but I didn't care. I called bell service and our luggage was in our room within 3 minutes, don't ask me how. The bell boy was very informative and suggested many things at the Wynn. Tipped the bell boy $4 for our two luggage and he was off.
On the way up to Las Vegas my girlfriend and I decided to try the dinner buffet at Wynn. This way we could compare it to the Belaggio we had from a previous visit. Sorry to say, but we were very dissapointed The Wynn buffet was not impressive at all. The Belaggio buffet is by far the best, compared to Wynn. Not sure if it's the same people cooking, but it wasn't that great at all. The gelato bar was awesome though. I would of rather had the Pho buffet 2 years ago when it was good. In the end, we won't be eating Wynn buffet any longer. My dad's cousins who have been going to Vegas for the last 50 years ONLY stay at Wynn. They stay in the villas for free as they are very high rollers. They pretty much get everything for free. Funny thing is, they go eat the buffet at Belaggio. Anyway, on we go.
We headed back up to the room to hang out for a bit, then headed out on the strip for a drive. The traffic was horrible, but we love cruising the strip and taking pictures, so it was fun. The weather was very nice (in the high 60's). After a cruise, we came back to Wynn and decided to do some gambling. I played vp and lost about $20. My girlfriend hit a couple of full houses, but then lost her $40. We were walking back to the room and noticed a table game called "Casino War". I said "hmmmmmm, the same war that we played when we were kids??" It was!!! So my girlfriend decided to play and ended up winning $70. I decided to pass and go hit the sack for the night.
The next morning we hit our breakfast place we eat at on Decatur and Charleston. It's not the Pancake House, but right behind it. I forgot the name, but it's cheap and awesome! After having some flap jacks we headed back to the strip to do some more gambling. So we decided to head to South Point casino/hotel. The place is huge, but not very impressive. Very basic casino, lot's of smoke, actually more than other casinos that have more people inside. We hit the vp machines, my girlfriend lost $60 and I lost another $40. I then played some kind of wierd penny machine and won back $30. My girlfriend lost another $20 on the same machine I played
We left South Point after a few hours and headed back to Wynn. We ate at a place inside Wynn called Zoocrackers. That place had excellent food! I had a real turkey breast sandwhich, my girlfriend had a burger. Both were excellent!!!! We then headed back up to our room to change, as we had tickets to the Rat Pack show at the Rio.
We headed to the Rio, valet was packed. Something must of been going on there, lot's of people everywhere!! The valet dude hooked me up and valeted my car anyway, I tipped him a little extra. We headed to the crown theater, it was packed and there was a line 50 yards long!!! After a little wait we were escorted in the theater. The show was really good and I recommend it to anyone. The guys really almost sounded like the real Rat Pack!!
After the show we headed to the Aria and kicked back inside the View Bar, which is another favorite place of ours. We got a few drinks and kicked back there for a few hours. Then we walked around Aria, gambled a little and cruised the strip again for more pics. We then headed back to our room at Wynn, since it was our last night there.
Next morning we packed up our bags and checked out of the Wynn painlessly. We headed to Belaggio for lunch, but the buffet had a line with about a 2 hour wait!!!! Hell no, so we walked to the Belaggio cafe, which also had a line. The wait was about 35 minutes, which was not bad since the lobby was packed with people trying to check in. It was Friday, so no surprise there. We had lunch at the cafe which was excellent. We then headed to the casino for some gambling. I saw casino war and headed there. Wow, guess they have that game everywhere?? Anyway, I sat down and layed a $20 on the table. Went to war with the dealer a few times and won them all. I walked away with $120!! I was very happy, I looked at it as I got the Wynn buffet free and regained my losses from the vp machines.
We left Belaggio and headed to the biggest gift shop in Vegas which I think is on Sahara. We got gifts for the family and then headed to the Strat to check in. We rolled in to the valet in my Chrysler 300C SRT8 and everyone was looking at us. Valet ran to my car and greeted me immediately, opening my trunk for me and asking if they could grab the bags, like they were expecting me. My girlfriend and I were laughing. I said sure and tipped the valet for the help as well as the bell boy. Guess they thought we were high rollers or something. Looking at the bad enviroment on the street I wasn't surprised why they acted like this when they saw us. The valet dude asked where we came from and I told him we had just checked out of the Wynn. His eyes boggled and said "are you guys nuts?? Why the hell did you come here??" We started laughing and told him we wanted a cheaper night and the Strat was the place for it. He told us "yup. you got that right!" lol. He told me he would park the car in front since they had been having a number of vehicle burglaries in the parking structure
We headed to registration and were greeted by a very kind young lady who helped us out with check in. I decided to down grade my strip view to a mountain view, since the strip view at the Strat was of abandoned casinos and the ghetto. We ened up getting a remodeled room which was very decent. We both liked it and it had a beautiful mountain view and the view of the ghetto houses next to the Strat. I didn't mind it, i brought my binoculars on this trip and was watching people fist fighting on Cleavland street which was close by. Saw Metro get there breaking up the fight and doing some of thier own. Good action!
We hung out until our dinner reservation was getting close. So we headed to Eiffel Tower Resteraunt for dinner. The dinner was amazing as usual, the view at night was awesome!!! It started raining and it was very windy, so the tower ride was closed
We headed back to the Strat and stayed there the rest of the night and went up to the tower. We also headed up to the airbar which was full of people. It must of been ghetto night, because they were playing old school ghetto rap music all night long. Overall, it was good. People were nice there, I took thier pictures and spoke with a few people, my girl and I had fun.
Next morning which was Saturday, we checked out and hit the freeway. On the way to Baker, we hit snow!!! Lot's of it!! But after about 15 minutes of snowing, we passed through it and were home free with good weather. Overall, we had a great time and I am willing to stay at the Strat again. We loved it!! I will post pictures soon. We are now planning to go in Spetember!!
