Very good. All these years I've been visualizing MoneyLA as a balding guy with a beard....when he's really a grey haired guy with glasses.
His pics are all over his site and videos.

It's actually a cool wedding idea. If your going to get married in Vegas, go for it.

Don't forget:

Mendelan sounds like a cross between a fortune teller and a sadistic leader.

Hi Frank. I enjoy your posts/questions. So, here's what I do (keeping IRS in mind). Before getting on the plane, I prepare my ledger sheets. It contains columns in this order: Date.....time in...time out..net time...dollars in...dollars out...net dollars(+ or -).....casino name......machine number...type game...player points....and, finally, running total of money won or lost. I keep that in the room but carry a little note pad in my purse on which I keep track of the above data. At midnight each day, I start a new tally sheet even if I do not change machines. Whenever I go back to the room for the night, I transfer the little sheets to the master ledger. At the beginning of each day, I know exactly where I am for the trip, gambling-wise.

So, if my companion asks how I'm doing, I throw my ledger at 'em and let them figure it out.

i want to have your discipline. at the very least, i want to remember to notate the machine numbers. there is nothing worse than a casino moving things around and MY MACHINE being lost in the shuffle.

Frank,

If a person is asked this question by anyone else, the first thing that I think should be done (before answering the question) is to ask the questioner "How do you define the word 'Today?' -- is it from Midnight to Midnight or from some other time frame?"

How could you accurately answer the question without knowing how the questioner defines (or understands) the word "Today?"

Kudos on your good record keeping. And thanks for sharing it. Your reply is the first I've received from a person that keeps an accurate accounting.

OK RecVPPlayer, pat yourself on the back! You have just revealed the true purpose of this mental exercise.

We can talk about how we define a day from now until kingdom come, but to answer the question truthfully (which was the goal!) we have to know how the other person asking the question defines the word "today".

The truth and what we think in this scenario are secondary to the opinions of the questioner.

This "question" never had a right or wrong answer and was only intended to stimulate discussion that would reveal how differently people perceive time and define words we take for granted. With little to no exposure to how non-pros think I needed this info for my research.

If it had an answer, I believe you have just answered it.

P.S. My second favorite answer that I've received since posing this Q was: " I won enough to get 'back to even' for the trip so far. "

It remains mathematically correct and sidesteps the issue of the questioners viewpoint by adding a verbal variable ("enough") to compensate for any difference in definitions of the word "today".

If you all take nothing else away from this, take this. Even if both people in a discussion speak the same language and stick to common everyday words, the chance for misunderstanding is always there.

(and by "always" I mean every other Tuesday)
