Inauguration Boycott

********quote*****
Some members of the Black Caucus decided to boycott Inauguration Day; [Representative] John Lewis, for instance, spent the day in his Atlanta district. He thought it would be hypocritical to attend [George W.] Bush's swearing-in because he doesn't believe Bush is the true elected president.

Representative John Lewis told NBC News that he does not plan on attending President-elect Trump's swearing-in next Friday.
"I don’t see Trump as a legitimate president."
"It will be the first one that I miss since I've been in Congress," he said. "You cannot be at home with something that you feel that is wrong, is not right."

Aside from the inaccuracy of Representative Lewis's comment to NBC News, . . . DonDiego is detecting a pattern.

n.b. Poor old DonDiego supports the right to free speech for everyone as well as the freedom to attend or not attend whatever events one chooses.
The president-elect went on a 6 year media tour questioning the legitimacy of the sitting president and his fake birth certificate. 6 years of spewing lies, conspiracy, and hatred is more than a pattern.....its more like a mild form of psychosis.
To my liberal inauguration boycotters, I'm happy in your own way that you seem to think people give a damn if you attend or not. To the rest of the world who truly don't give a damn if a liberal politician boycotts the inauguration, I say a new seat has opened up and maybe you can attend.
Common ground! I agree with PJ....sorta.

Yes, I think Trump was a jagbag for not having the goods on Obamanation and making such a stink. But Obamanation could have preempted the whole thing by supplying a birth certificate. But let's face facts here, Obamanation was not the most forthcoming of Presidents. 3 more days.

Trump could start to reduce the defict by eliminating discretionary spending in the districts of the boycotting democrats. He could also relocate federal offices in those districts or just close them

That would just be vindictive. I think he's saving the federal cutbacks for sanctuary cities.

Fascinating what passes as "news" these days
Oh, Oh !

Everything is OK now.

Glenn Kessler, the Washington Post's Fact Checker just tweeted:

John Lewis's staff says he forgot that he boycotted George W. Bush's inauguration: "That was almost 20 years ago."

I think Lewis was wrong for stating he would boycott. However, Trumps ignorant response would cause me to boycott it, if I had a ticket, which I don't.
I suspect in most cases that would be one and the same
