Hillary was really disingenuous on this matter. She tried to make it look like Donald Trump cheated and didn't pay any income taxes on his earned income, when in fact he exercised his rights in the tax laws. Both Democrats and Republicans have done so. If he sustained a major net operating loss, he is allowed to bring it forward for up to fifteen years and offset other income in each year.
During the recession, Congress instituted Section 168 bonus depreciation, whereby depending upon the year, one could deduct either 50% or 100% of new equipment purchases. Why the large allowance? It was set up to give incentive for companies to purchase new equipment, therefore hoping that companies that manufactured that equipment would have income.
THIS WAS THE LAW AND HE TOOK ADVANTAGE OF WHAT WAS OFFERED.
