So let's take what Forbes wrote in 1982 about Trump's wealth, that it was "estimated at over $200 million." Now according to The Moneychimp Calculator a mediocre S&P 500 investor who reinvested everything from 1982 to the end of 2015 would be worth 40.87 times the original investment, or OVER $8 BILLION. Forbes current estimate of Trump's worth: $4 billion.
Using figures Forbes' 1982 and current figures to estimate Trump's wealth, I've got two words to describe his success: Blockbuster Video.
This is so rich....or not. Now the world began in 1982 with Trump having 200 Million Dollars. And where did that money come from? Not an inheritance from his father, Fred. He didn't die until 1999. Did it just boil up from the primordial ooze and attach itself to The Donald? Or did Trump build that wealth from a much smaller amount in the 70s (a decade you've already said he did amazingly well). Keep looking. The Truth is out there. In the meantime all this proves is that you and Fortune and AP are little weasels...because you're all in violation of the 'law of large numbers'.
Oh....And in your next analysis, be sure to subtract the cost of Trump's expensive divorces, lavish lifestyle, and an annual estimate of his income taxes from your S&P calculator. Of course that tax thing might be tough...but let's just use 15% to be safe. You might even see he beat the S&P just with that consideration...not to mention Starting the Analysis when he actually began his career....rather than some arbitrary date in the 1980s.
In any event, for others obsessed like Forkie because they think The Donald doesn't have enough money, I leave you with an analysis of his wealth accumulation FROM THE CURRENT CENTURY....
He was worth -900 Million in the year 2000 (according to Forbes). He's worth over 4 Billion now (according to Forbes). If you compare that wealth accumulation to an S&P500 indexed fund you'll find he is the 'Businessman of the Millennium'. That's just as accurate as any of the bullshit Forkush has been spewing.
Nice cherry picking. I take the longest timeline possible of Forbes numbers, you choose the subset that you like the best.
