Well we can work out the exact rate when we agree on the size of government. Opinions on this might shift too once everyone starts paying for it equally.
I think we're making progress though. And what could possibly be more 'fair'? Everybody---rich and poor paying the same effective tax rate as you and forkush advocate.

Might mean a few changes as the many states adjust their government services or income tax rates to reflect the new reality of 100% income based taxing, but this is the only way the people will ever see the true reality of how much they are taxed.

Its called "class warfare" when you suggest wealthy people should pay the same effective rate as the working class (at least if you are a Democrat making that argument)

its definitely a move in the right direction. But Income tax rates are largely irrelevant once you get to the millionaire class as those people receive most/all of their income from captial gains and dividends.
I'm all for reforming the entire tax code - but if you think Healthcare Reform was difficult wait until you try to overhaul the tax book that's packed with 10K pages of special interest kickbacks.
An easy first step would be to dispel the myth that lower capital gains/dividend taxes don't trickle down to the working class as promised (and any graph of income distribution can prove). They are the primary reason for the increasing gap between the rich and middle class in this country.
