Increased homeless on Fremont near the closed properties

Not that it is unsafe and they are harmless, but I have noticed a larger presence of homeless due to no security running them off at the closed properties being renovated on Fremont. It is starting to look like a homeless camp.

That being said, how is a person supposed to get free Mardi Gras beads now or buy nasty state fair 99 cent treats. I only had the treats a time or two. Mostly because of the long line, although eating from that kitchen was a scary thought. But I always had tons of beads to give to kids to play dress up with.

Somewhat excited to see what they have planned, but also not happy with more monopolies. This is never a good outcome for the customers.
I think the Orleans sometimes offer the beads, but instead of the homeless issue, you may encounter the prostitute crowd.
Haha. The most likely place for a woman, not man I would assume, lol, to run into the prostitute crowd is the bathroom. They are always in there changing their clothes and make up. And More than not will ask for money. It is not exclusive to any particular property. Just random.

I think I still have an entire bag of beads. I put a bunch in their treat bags at Christmas. I also got excited and bought like 90 decks of cards. I bought like four boxes and turned around and they had some blocks for half price so bought another five or so boxes at that spinellis store. I hand them out as Santa favors to the adults at Christmas.
Why not turn the abandoned buildigs into flop houses? Serve some Mad Dog and put in some penny slots. Sounds like a win win.

We already have the Las Vegas Club.

I am referring to the ones at the plaza end. They have been bought and closed by the same person. That old Las Vegas club, the bayou, mermaids and glitter gulch if I am correct. My assumption and what I have read is that the same person will be remodeling the whole area. It may be the same persons involved in the d revamp. Not the same person, but the same circle.

The homeless are sleeping along the rim of the building and no one is there to keep them moving.
Can't remember the name of one on the corner. I could be wrong. Don't want to be wrong. People get very aggressive if people misstate things.
Oh, it's the same person alright. Derek Stevens. His brother is a partner but Derek calls the shots in Vegas.

With the purchase of Las Vegas Club (the place on the corner), Mermaids and Glitter Gulch they own the whole block. The "talk" is that they intend to create a boutique resort nicer than anything downtown. We'll see.

As a part of the deal for Mermaids and Glitter Gulch they also got La Bayou across Fremont. It is already torn down and supposedly will be used for expansion of the Golden Gate Casino. I do not know if they or the city owns the alleyway that was between La Bayou and GG. The alleyway was a bit of a homeless hangout itself.

Within days of LVC closing there was the beginnings of a homeless camp in the parking garage. I didn't go by the garage on my last trip so I do not know if they secured that area or not.
Instead of just sleeping on the sidewalk in their tattered old clothes, maybe the city can loan them.......Costumes! Then they could get out there on Fremont and do some productive work....cheering up the tourists and bringing great joy to all who encounter them. In return for brightening their day, the tourists would then donate a small pittance to these now productive souls. Might even be able to get some Federal grants for Homeless Busker Training. It's a win/win.
