I had a reservation for 1 night comped, on Monday, 5/30, at Belterrra. Stopped by Grand Victoria first. Cashed in a $10 cash coupon for my birthday in May then played several different table games for about 2 hours without much luck.
Made my way down river to Belterra, checked in, then used my free buffet coupon for supper. Cashed in a $15 freeplay coupon and hit the tables there. Played Ultimate Texas Hold’em and Crazy 4 Poker for several hours and they slowly ate away at the remainder of my bankroll. I did the walk of shame to an ATM, but as it turned out, I didn’t need that cash. I still had about $30 left of my original bankroll and put it in a slot machine I had never seen before called Tiger Storm. I hit a nice bonus and cashed out $253. Back in the game. The ATM withdrawal stayed in my wallet the rest of the trip. Then I tried my luck at Let It Ride. Didn’t do squat there. I finally found an opening at the $5 3 Card Poker table. It and the $10 table had been full the whole time I was there. When I sat down, I realized why. The progressive pot was at $18,000 (this is the optional $1 bet on the lit red circle). After playing for about 15 minutes with mediocre results, I was dealt AKQ of diamonds. WOOHOO! $500 from the progressive bet! Plus another $200 from the Pairs Plus bet (40 to 1 on my $5 bet). The other players got a $25 envy bet payoff. This got me out of the hole and into positive territory. If that hand had only been in Spades, the $18k would have been mine, but I wasn’t about to turn down what I got. I played for another hour or so, hitting a few more straights and other smaller winning hands before I called it a night.
There was one guy at the 3 card poker table that had a big stack of purple ($500) chips that he was cashing in to play the table max of $100. He burned through those and got a marker at the table for another big stack of purple before I left. The guy to my right had a large stack of green chips he burned through playing $25 hands and left before me. Too rich for my bankroll.
The next morning, I used a $10 birthday gift card Belterra sent me to pay for a buffet breakfast, then played a little 3 card poker and Ultimate Texas Hold’em before I left for home with about a $200 profit for trip.
