Returned from a week in Vegas last week. Took advantage of comped rooms, which required changing rooms three times. Two nights at the Cosmo, three nights at Main Street Station, and the final two nights at the Palms.
I've been to Vegas maybe a hundred times in my lifetime, so I'm aware of the "adult" side of the city. Nevertheless, I just can't figure out what was going on at the Palms last Friday night.
Sitting at some VP machines near the registration desk, and watched three young (and I mean YOUNG, like looking underage) girls sit down together at the VP machines just in front of me. They didn't play at all, but sat and smoked, as if waiting for someone. Half hour later, a very large guy shows up, dressed in what I can only characterize as "pimp wardrobe." Bright red slacks, white blazer, black shirt, and gold chains. He kisses each of the three young girls, and they all sit again. Two more young girls show up, who also get hugged and kissed by the guy.
In the next hour, (yeah, I sat there, still playing my VP machine, but curious, too), and the guy was on his phone a lot, and it sounded like they were arranging a "party." In between phone calls, the girls each took turns sitting on his lap for a while, vying for his attention. All five of them had a "turn" sitting on his lap.
Then, the Palms Casino Director shows up. (I know this because I read his name tag). He greets the guy, who then introduces the young ladies, and tells them, "he's the big boss here, he's in charge." A couple minutes of talk, the Director walks away.
Security walks by a few times, nothing.
Okay, I get the fact that nothing illegal was taking place. It's just a guy with five young girls. What was interesting is the girls were not overdressed, but rather very plain looking, wearing just normal clothes that looked like off the rack at Wal Mart. My overactive imagination said, these are runaways/homeless girls that he is kindly looking after, for their benefit, of course.
Finally, the guy gets a call, which prompts him to hurry out the front casino door. Girls followed.
I'd heard that the Palms got busted for knowing and failing to prevent prostitution at their property back in 2013, and were fined 1 million bucks by the Nevada Gaming Board.
So, is this what's going on there again? I think the Casino Director greeting this guy was just odd . . . .
