Did they waterboard any of them? Because as everyone knows, that's no longer torture.

Hmmm. You equate waterboarding terrorists for information with people who stone and hang people for adultery or other minor crimes. I don't know if you thought you were being cute and clever, but you certainly didn't gain any respect from anyone.

No, I compared it with the Facebook users who got long prison sentences. The Shah of Iran who the US placed in power, and his son, the Shah who the US kept in power, did much, much worse.

Of course the US has actively supported monsters like Allende in Chile and the Proceso in Argentina, who "disappeared" thousands of victims. The United States didn't have a problem if they oppressed and murdered their own citizens, as long as they didn't oppress Standard Oil and United Fruit Company. And then there's Iraq.

America has more blood on it's hands than the Muslims ever did. And if our Christianist fanatics ever gain power, watch out.

You seem to have no problem in thinking that the punishment practices of the Taliban and Iran are no worse than anything that America does. That of course makes you painfully misinformed or makes you an apologist for the Taliban and Iran.
Well said.

America has done much worse, and to believe otherwise is to suffer from a disease known as American Exceptionalism.

Causing over 100,000 deaths in Iraq in a war started over false pretenses: much worse. Overthrowing a democratically elected government in Iran and installing a repressive Shah: much worse. Militarily and financially supporting a series of monsters in Central and South America, who raped and murdered nuns, murdered Archbishop Oscar Romero, threw human beings out of helicopters, and murdered thousands: much worse.

When exceptionalist Americans naively ask, "Why do they hate us," often it's because we deserve it.
