Too bad the 42nd President of the U.S.A. didn't do what should have been done when Hussein first started thumbing his nose at the UN inspectors as was agreed upon after the Gulf War. This all would have been long passed and it's hard to imagine how different the world just may be.

Welcome home to all the Vets. Welcome home and thank you!

You are a retard, in case no one has ever pointed that out to you. You've lived through the last decade, and wish that not only had the war occurred, but had occurred earlier? And I'm sure that if Clinton attacked Iraq, you wouldn't have ever once used the term wag the dog. Amazingly retarded. This thread went political so it will be shut down, but please remember how retarded you are for future reference.

Christ all mighty, you have an entire 60 post for your efforts here at LVA! Hope all 60 were not quite as rude as this one.

IMHO you earned it with your extremist partisan post!
We should have never been in Iraq, no WMD, no threat to the USA, but their country was sitting on Halliburton's oil.

God Bless those that gave thier lives, limbs, and service in this action, even as wrong as the politicians that got us into it were. Hate the war, love the warrior.

Please tell all of the Kurds and the Iranians who were hit by WMD's. Oh wait! you can't! they are dead....

Nice revisionist history. This happened prior to the Gulf War(When we were Iraq's ally). After the Gulf war, Iraq's WMDs were dismantled along with their WMD program. There were NO WMD's in Iraq. They had no program. And BTW, Iraq never threw out the Inspectors. WE pulled them out ourselves both times. Good try though.
Yep, they died two years prior to the first gulf war back in 1988. BTW it was the good old USA that sold them the ingredients to make the gas. Old Rummy was hoping they were going to use it on the Iranians.

Really? Under the terms of the surrender of the first Gulf War, was it not the job of the inspectors to VERIFY that the WMD was destroyed?

Saddam did everything he could to delay, hinder, and obstruct the inspectors from doing their job. Since no WMD was ever VERIFYED as being destroyed, the UN told him to either allow for the inspectors to do their job or risk being attacked. Sadam went back to his old tricks and then paid the price, Iraq was attacked.

Gee, some of you kids have the memory of a flea.

Why don't you read the terms of surrender and while your at it, how about all of the sanctions Saddam ignored/broke?

Exactly right Chef. My memory sucks but I clearly remember that the inspectors pulled out in protest to Saddam's evasive uncooperative tactics. Who knows what Saddam had but he didn't cooperate and show that he was clean. Hence, the invasion.
I have to laugh at the whole notion of inspectors. First off everyone knows you can't prove a negative. So here is how it went down the inspectors demanded that Saddam show them his WMDs. Saddam said I don't have any WMDs to show you. The inspectors said see he isn't complying with our requests because he won't show us his WMDs.

We painted ourselves in a corner because Bush and the Neo-Cons wanted to make war and have their little cakewalk so the Iraqis could throw rose petals at them in a gesture of their gratitude. Almost 5,000 American soldiers died, and more than 100,000 Iraqi civilians died all for a needless war. For the Average Iraqi citizen they are much worse off than they were before the war and the country is more of a security risk than it was before it was invaded.

You want to bitch and moan about your debt here is where a lot of it came from. For the next 60-70 years we are going to be paying and paying for the care of Veterans that fought in this war. Although I note, the Republicans are already trying cut veterans funding. Despicable I say.
Over and over again everyone that has posted on this thread has been told or read that they would appreciate no political threads or comments.

You all still post every time they come up. At what point do move from disrespectful to assclowns?

I won't be visiting this thread again so no need to answer that for me.

by IAEA Director General Dr. Mohamed ElBaradei

For nearly four years, the Agency has not been in a position to implement its mandate in Iraq under United Nations Security Council Resolution 687 and related resolutions. Since December 1998 when our inspectors left Iraq, we have no additional information that can be directly linked without inspection to Iraq’s nuclear activities. I should emphasize that it is only through resumption of inspections that the Agency can draw any conclusion or provide any assurance regarding Iraq’s compliance with its obligations under these resolutions. In May and July of this year, I participated in two rounds of talks between the United Nations Secretary General and Iraq. I do hope that Iraq will be in a position soon to accept the return of inspectors and that the resumption of inspections will take place without delay. This is clearly in the interests of both the international community and Iraq itself. The Agency remains prepared to resume its verification activities in Iraq under the relevant Security Council resolutions at short notice.

I have to agree Chef, I was around then and my husband was in the first gulf war. We lost some friends there. SCUDS ring a bell?
