Is it FINALLY Time?

Can we finally wake up now! Can we finally kick the politicians in the ass hard enough to get their attention to get them to stop listening to the NRA and get them to listen to reason and common sense and ban these damn assault rifles from the general populace. IT'S A GODDAMN MILITARY WEAPON DEVELOPED FOR ONE REASON ONLY, TO KILL! QUICKLY, BRUTALLY, AND AS MANY AS POSSIBLE.

There is NO good reason that i can think of that would justify ownership of such a weapon for the common man/woman. I gave it quite a bit of thought before i wrote that line. The "It's my right under the constitution" argument just doesn't hold water. I am a firm believer in the right to bear arms provision myself but within reason. It sure as hell doesn't mean i can have whatever i want. Where does it stop? Should i be allowed to have rocket launchers? I don't think so.

I think this most recent tragedy in Sandy Hook and the senseless shooting at the movie theatre (also with an assault rifle) points out the need to rid ourselves of these deadly weapons. The large number of rounds and impact power of these things make them far too dangerous to be in just anyones hands. We should also outlaw all clips for all hand guns that allow more than nine rounds to be loaded.

What happened to those poor little children in Sandy Hook and the brave adults who tried so hard to protect them is sad beyond expression. It seems as if all the air leaves the room every time news of it comes on the tele. My heart aches for each and every family affected there.

Nothing can be done to bring back the lives lost, nor take away the pain inflicted by this lone gunman, but we can act to make the future safer for all the other children and movie goers out there.

Do as i am doing today. Write, call, or e-mail your senator, your congressman and the White House and DEMAND the gun reform we need be passed NOW. Not next year or the year after,NOW.
Who knows, they might just listen for a change.
Uh, assault weapons have been banned in this country since 1934.
