Is it just me or are you okay with $150+ per night room rates?

I'm cheap and can't fathom paying $150 per night for a room. As much as possible I plan my trips midweek but this summer I'm meeting some people which would require Friday and Saturday nights stays and $150 is the average per night (ie, 4 Queens, MSS, Fremont, etc). Granted some of you get comped nights and wouldn't run into having to pay what I consider an enormous amount but I was curious if I'm the only one here who cringes or do others have no qualms about it. BTW I used search engines and saw hostel cat for $20 a night but no way would I share a bunk bed with 8 other people sharing a room (lol). Super 8 Nellis AFB came in at $60 a night, now that's more my speed although after reading some of the reviews it seems kind of crummy. Curious to hear others thoughts.
that is a bit much for downtown. keep searching. have you tried booking directly through each website? vegas.com is pretty good also. it would have to be a really major event in Vegas to justify that price. and if I was not attending that event, I would choose another weekend. if I were splitting the cost with others I guess I would just have to pay it but I wouldn't like it. 4Q has fire sale or flash sale from time to time as well.
I agree there must be something going on because 4 Queens is usually about 100 a night. Keep searching 4 queens runs sales on Tuesdays, I am sure the other casinos do also. Golden Nugget just ran a big sale. Don't forget to factor in resort fees some DT hotels have none and some are almost 30.

Good luck,
I see two of the next 5 weekends at The Plaza with $99 weekend rates, and no resort fee. The surrounding weekday rates are $39-$45.

Vegas could care less - a better name should be Gouge City. As long as others will pay these outrageous prices for rooms, Vegas will continue to charge these rates.
Doctor,

Vegas has some of the cheapest hotel room rates in the country. I travel a little bit on business, most recently Hollywood, Nashville, DC areas, with upcoming stays of the books for Denver and Chicago. Makes me long for Vegas room prices.

When you need to pay for a weekend downtown and you are not a comp player I recommend downloading the Hotel Tonight app and getting your room just shy of a week out, there is a promo code for first time users usually $25 or higher. You could also look under priceline express deals for those dates and probably get a better deal. The priceline "3 1/2 star mystery hotel" is the Downtown Grand.
I got an e-mail from the Fremont the other day for their summer promo and weekend rates were in the $80-100 range. You might see that rate for the Nugget, but not for most of DT. I would check again as that sounds high for DT.

Good Luck!

For what it's worth if you don't have to stay in a casino hotel, there is a Motel 6 just east of the Tropicana casino.
I think it depends upon the quality of the hotel. If I can get a 150 dollar room at places like the Venetian, Palaazo, Wynn, Encore, Bellagio, Mandarin, etc. then that is a bargain, because comparable hotels in other cities would probably start out at $400 a night and many of them would be priced over $500 a night (depending upon the city).
