Is it just me or are you okay with $150+ per night room rates?

I think it depends upon the quality of the hotel. If I can get a 150 dollar room at places like the Venetian, Palaazo, Wynn, Encore, Bellagio, Mandarin, etc. then that is a bargain, because comparable hotels in other cities would probably start out at $400 a night and many of them would be priced over $500 a night (depending upon the city).

I agree.

And the prices I've paid for rooms closer to $200 in the cities I listed above are nothing fancy, just reliable Marriott's and Crowne Plazas.
Come to Manhattan on a Saturday night. Try to get away with something under $500 a night.
What weekend are you looking at? We can all look for you.

Vegas could care less - a better name should be Gouge City. As long as others will pay these outrageous prices for rooms, Vegas will continue to charge these rates.

Why do you hate our free market capitalistic society so much?

Someone that I know who is a sapphire level card holder at Boyd's (one tier below emerald) was able to get me a comped room at MSS for Thurs, Friday, and Saturday nights. I am forever grateful for their generousity. Prior to this gift I was looking at possibly staying at Long Horn for $70 each night on Friday & Saturday, a scary thought I know but a guy's got to do what a guy's got to do. I was a bit horrified at the thought of having to stay at Long Horn but thankfully that won't be in my plans anymore.
$500 a night in Manhattan, I would have a melt down (lol). And if it came down to me paying $150 a night for my stay in Las Vegas, I would even consider maybe sleeping in my rental car albeit I would get an SUV or minivan.
I guess I've been spoiled, we've been able to use timeshare weeks, nut that's no longer an option. Hmm..paying 150 bucks for a room in Vegas seems out of my comfort zone. I have been paying 100=/- for a room in Raleigh/Durham lately for wife's work and we're probably moving down there in the near future. I only want clean, comfortable and safe, that's all. We've stayed in some really nice luxurious places, it's cool but not high on my prority list.
Glad to hear someone hooked you up surf. Enjoy!

I agree. I'm a retired middle class guy and $150 per night in Vegas is a hell of a lot of money.I've been lucky in Vegas and have not paid for a room in many years.I stay at places like Sam's Town, El Cortez, Fremont, Orleans and a couple of more places.Perfectly fine, especially for the price.I can then use the money I don't spend on rooms on a couple of nice meals.
I think the best value in Vegas are the 2nd floor suites, at the El Cortez. The only drawback is they are walk-ups. Not the ones towards the coffee shop, but the staircase opposite the craps table. Its been years since I paid for a room in Vegas. If I cant get a weekend comp, I just shoot down to Laughlin.
I avoid Friday and Saturday nights in Vegas to avoid paying for rooms. I get comped rooms at the Orleans and Goldcoast Sun-Thurs, plus the casinos and Vegas in general are less crowded.
