Is Las Vegas the new Detroit?

I just got a kick out of the title of this article.

Thats outrageous. Everyone knows the casinos are much better in Detroit.

Comparing Vegas to Detroit, are you joking? Vegas can't hold a penny to Detroit. Detroit has been a cesspool since the 70's and has never gotten better. Instead of Escape from New York, the national prison should be Escape from Detroit. That ought to clean the place up a bit.

I think even assuming a recovery the amount of vacant homes is going to be a long term problem. The population has shrunk permanently

The question is when will the bulldozers be tearing down Detroit?

If I am not mistaken they have already started bulldozing parts of Detroit.

People from Ohio (like me) throw our trash in Detroit. Although they won't let us light a match once we dump it for some reason. Maybe they want to fence in all of the rats. (seems like nobody wants the thugs, and everybody wants the regular folks)
