Is this stealing?

Why is it; KarenTN you are always talking about food?

I am surprised that no one made a comment about the maid who would accept a tip to give extra toiletries directly from the cart. Is a maid allowed to do that? After all, where does the tip money go? Into her pocket no doubt, which means she converted company property to benefit herself.

Now, if maid service got a call from the room, and the maid delivered extra toiletries to the room and was tipped, that would be OK in my book.

Let me bring everyone back to reality here.

There is NO tip.

............ There is NO maid.

............ and there are NO extra toiletries.

Under this theory, the maid is responsible to determine whether the additional items are actually required for use during the stay. I.e. the maid is responsible for the guest's intent. I.e. mysticism. "Don't blame you, don't blame me, blame that fellow behind the tree."

There damn well better be a maid. If not, who in the hell did I give that 5 dollars to?

With the exception of furniture and bedding if it isn't fastened down it is fair game. Oatmeal rasin or chocalate chip cookies from the buffet, mmmm good late nite snack.
Many charities that care for - disabled people / sheltered women / homeless - absolutely LUUUVV the little toiletry items you get at the hotels. Food stamps do not pay for these items so the only way their constituents can come by them is by donation. They prefer the small sizes because supplies are normally handed out in weekly amounts.

I usually have my own toiletries at the hotels but I bury their's in my suitcase each day so as to get new ones for the local shelters back home.

My company sends care packages to our troops in Afganstan / Iraq monhtly now for some time- one solider came by to thank us and according to him the just don't shower or bath- said it's too dangerous.

and I gave them all my Venetian/ Wynn bathroom supplies-- but they loved the lotions... Your service man may vary (YSMMV)

PS also they love toys like beanie babies to pass out to the local children- it breeds good will. think about doing this in your own community. thank a vet!

I do this all of the time. I usually check in and put the "do not disturb" on the door and leave it until I check out. During the course of a week I may need extra supplies and just hit the maid up in the hall for what I need. It's just good customer service unless I'm offering them $20 for a case of shampoo.

I love the daily maid service and the turn down service is a bonus.
I guess I must not stay at good enough places. All I ever get is stinky soap that smells like the stuff at rest stops and watery lotion. Nothing worth stealing or even using for that matter.
