Is this stealing?

I do both. I (she) takes what there is in the room when we're ready to leave, and before that we also tip the maid for some extra goodies. By now, we have so much stuff, there's no more left to take unless we change to a new hotel. I have enough soap bars to bathe 3 times a day for the next 20 years.
slow day, MoneyLA?
Yes MissL... after all, Im the guy with NO ROYALS to report...
Been doing this for years, always pack away the extra sundry items and deliver them to a local VFW post, they use the items to include in packages to our troops.
Bagiant, you might consider this with your stash.

Same for us; I will leave a note w/tip and sometimes receive 3 extra sets of goodies! Some faves we use ourselves but the bulk is donated. I always take unused TP/tissues as we live far from town and these are good as an emergency stashWe'll take the slippers home as my son loves these. I've never been tempted to buy any of the robes (they'll charge ya if you take the one in the room home but you can also buy a new one) as I find them too heavy and warm most of the time. We'll also take the pens and notepads to have next to our phone at home. All of the above, w/the exception of the robe, are expected to be taken home if unused; that's why the notepads and pens are so cheap! Of course, V/P and PHo have nicer pensOh, and if we're lucky, we'll have some nice sewing kits, etc. that come in handy in our travels. The ones they used to have at V/P were schweet! As for buffets, I've been guilty of absconding w/some of the individually wrapped almond cookies at SilvertonAm I low class or a criminal for pilfering the amenities? Not when you consider how much $$$ I put at risk in their casino!

so you tip extra to get extra soap you probably won't be able to use in your lifetime? are you one of those hoarders?

I'll hit the soaps, shampoos, and extra coffee (if any is left). I haven't been in a room with the bathrobes as I am a cheap b@stard. However, if I get a room with them I may buy one if they are comfy.

They do seem to give you more bars of soap than needed along with shower gel.
I too have more bars of soap than anything.
I don't use bar soap so I don't take it. I don't go anywhere without my shower gel and full size poofer.

Hmm, . . . DonDiego is unable to find the definition of poofer in any standard online dictionary.

Unfortunately the UrbanDictionary.com - "POOFER" DEFINITIONS MAY OFFEND NORMAL PEOPLE/NOT SAFE FOR WORK offers way too many definitions.
("n. a fart, especially a short, sharp, small fart making little or no noise" is one of the meanings most likely intended by snidely333. Even poor old DonDiego doesn't go anywhere without those.) And poor old DonDiego hopes none of the cruder meanings are what snidely333 refers to.
