This ad ran once the night before the recall election for governor of California on October 7, 2003. Anyone paying $3500 could put themselves on the ballot. Mary "Carey" Cook was one of 135 candidates including Gary Coleman, Gallagher, and Larry Flint. She came in 10th with 11,179 votes.
That was a pretty impressive result for one short television commercial, and no campaigning. Finished 10th in a field of 135 eligible candidates.
Imagine the results she may have achieved if she had spent more time campaigning, meating the public, and kissing babies. She could have really shook things up and perhaps become a dominant force and serious contender during the gubernatorial debates, perhaps even a master debater.
She certainly has the qualifications to gain the attention of the public.
