Issac

I, like many others, have been watching the current updates about tropical storm Issac and I find one thing that makes me shake my head. After Katrina and the devastation that accrued I thought that those who live in and around New Orleans would have learned their lesson about storms in their area. Apparently there are those who just don't get it. I see the current victims looking like drowned rats crying their tales of woe while ignoring their own responsibility concerning their current plight. I hate to admit it, but I feel no sympathy for those who decided to stay in their homes instead of heading all warnings about the threats of flooding.
didn't the City of New Orleans and surrounding areas actually tell their residents to "Shelter in place". I don't think thre was any evacuation.
Not NOLA city proper, one of the Parish's closer to the Gulf issued mandatory evacuation notices.

DrMilled is callous towards other people? Well I guess there's a first time for everything.

Louisianna boasts the unflattering title of being the country's poorest state. Many people living in New Orleans do not own a vehicle and live paycheck to paycheck off a dirt salary. The idea of packing up and going to a hotel for 4 days for such people is easier said than done.
Pj- I guess that you are correct. I am callous towards the people who decided to ignore warnings and who now are bemoaning their plight. When hurricane Ike came thru Galveston there were many who decided to ride out the storm who have never been seen or heard from again. Observing such bravado and /or complacency for one's safety garners no sympathy from me when they suffer the results of their own actions. So yes,PJ, call me callous. Also, your sarcasm is duly noted. Have a nice day.
I thought Miss. was the poorest state? Either way, true not everyone can move into a hotel for a few days, but aren't there emergency shelters for those who need it, especially after all the crap the govt. caught after katrina? I thought the biggest problem was getting the people to actually leave there houses because they flat out don't want to?

JOHN
jatki99- I am sure that when all is said and done, PJ will say it was Bush's fault.
