It's Fall 2015 ! ! !

The Autumnal Equinox has arrived.

Summer 2015 is officially over.

No more Summer sunrises:

The vegetable harvests are dwindling:

And the cows are gone from the pasture below the house;

No more suntan parties on Tomato Ranch Ridge . . . or playing hide-and-Seek with the neighborhood kids:

Oh, . . . and did poor old DonDiego mention teechur and he have a new granddaughter:

Anyway, . . . it's Fall, . . . . and that means Oktoberfest ! ! ! :

I'm surprised I don't see any of the valley's leaves turning. The cooler nights have started to turn a few here, not many, but a few. The honeysuckle vine on our deck has many yellow leaves(and they're dropping. UGH!) That is what the end of summer means to me..leaves dropping, there's many, many of 'em, and the onset of cold. Cold followed with snow, ice and more cold. Forecast; cold, and cold 'til march(maybe) .

We're calling it quits on the cold, had enough and moving a little further south with a more temperate climate. Our skiing, sledding, and tubing days are over and will take up fishing, boating and tubing. Different water temp on this kind of tubing tho . Soounds so much more enjoyable. Fortunately we don't have to move too much further south(NC) to get out of the major winter stuff, so we're still not that far from family. Looking forward t it, not looking forward to the moving tho...again UGH. It's incredible the amount of crap 3 people can generate in 18 years. My wood shop(where I spend an incredible amount of time sitting in the corner and doing...well..something. Oh wait, yea, I'm a world renowned maker of clock cases, furniture and stuff ), my shed will be a challenge all its' own. Good thing I have a strapping young 21 yr old with lots of friends who like us as well.

Out of curiosity DD, how much snow do ya'll get on 'mater ridge?
I'm sorry, I started rambling. The absolute most beautiful pic you have on there is Teechur and the new one. Gorgeous and congrats. We have yet to be blessed but he's still too young(in M's eyes).
Jatki, my brother and sis-in-law recently bought a lot in Weaverville, NC (15 minutes from Ashville). They're moving from Illinois and won't start building for probably 9 months, so it will be some time before I come down for a visit. It appears to be a pretty part of the World.

DD, congratulations on the nice vegetables and the nice and new grand daughter................not necessarily in that order.

A clarification: The photos of the Tomato Ranch and environs are Summer photos, . . . the veggies are actually the first harvest last Spring.

Snowfall on the Ridge: DonDiego has lived heh' 7 years. He's experienced one snowfall of nearly a foot, but the norm is 4 or 5 storms of 3-to-6 inches. Only one Winter has been exceptionally cold; even a few days sub-zero.

Except for a few species the leaves haven't begun turning colors yet down here; the 2-year-old Sugar Maple near the vegetable garden is still all green, . . . and the tomato plants are not totally healthy, but they are still mostly green and producing a bit. The pepper plants are doing very well.

Last year DonDiego bought the lot next door and a strip along the back of both lots and expanded the Ranch. There's quite a few old large locust trees on the property now. They are still green. Two months ago strong winds took one down. DonDiego's neighbor is actually a professional woodsman/tree-cutter, so clearing the debris was a snap.

Nice pics Mr. Don.

Thanks for Sharing.

Rick
It's still summer here. Just got back from surfing. Still "trunking" it (no wetsuit) 72deg. water, 80deg. at the beach. Lot of bikinis still being flaunted.
