It's Snack Time !!!!!

That is some very fine looking produce Don Diego.

It appears that you are quite an accomplished Appalachian Agriculturist.

DonDiego thanks Rock'n Rick for the kind observation.
DonDiego's entire farm comprises 6 tomato plants and 8 pepper plants contained within a 12-foot by 6-foot oval. He has been harvesting about what's pictured every 3 days; with the heat letting up it's more like 4 or 5 days now.
This year has been much more productive than last year; neighbors, acquaintances, the Church, the mail-lady, and passers-by have all benefitted. And the tomatoes are the best tasting DonDiego has ingested since he was a little boy.

Well worth another look on this page.

I could never grow stuff that good.
I even had 24+ tomato plants at times and still never got a huge crop. I guess there was not quite enough sun.
That Appalachian soil must also be a big factor too.

Now I just grow the essentail herbs for cooking.
The father of one of my drum students grows too many veggies every year, so I benefit,
....... but they are still not as good looking as yours though.

It's true...DonDiego does go around the house munching on tomatoes and cheese and omelets and salads...

But he can have that stuff! I like my snacks to be sweet....and better yet, chocolate. I have a huge sweet-tooth. (unfortunately for my hips!)

I'm not much for salty things UNLESS I'm drinking a tumbler of delicious honey whisky or a margarita or a long-island iced tea. Then some salty chips or seasoned almonds go well.

Oh, also love broccoli salad. I'll get some at our local grocery store and snack on some of that between meals. Yum!

I like furburgers.

Snacks consist of tomatoes and cheese, . . . and chili-laden omelets, . . . and salads.

Oh, . . . and when there's Football on TV, baked frozen-pizza with lots of added extra chili-peppers and a good craft brew.

A very fine looking bunch of veggies DD,your bounty makes my measly maters look pretty pitiful. We get enough to make our salads but not much more. My hats off to you and your green thumb.

Heres my pickins' from last few days,we get enough for our salads but not much more. Have to say they are delicious tho.

jatki99,

The skins of your tomatoes look like they's cracked. I had that problem here in Dallas when I had a garden. I'd come home from work and the plants would be wilted so I'd water them. The plants absorbed the water and cracked the skins.

I was told I should get a shade for the plants (think row cover) to prevent them from wilting and just water normally.

I also noticed that my pepper plants would go dormant during the hotest part of the summer and then give me a second crop in the fall.

Home grown veggies are the best!
Holy Crap, where do I start.

Favorites snacks in no particular order:

Lays Potato Chips, regular, sour cream or cheddar

Tortilla chips & salsa

Is cheesecake considered a snack or is this dessert? Yum.

Krispy Kreme donuts, brownies...just plain sugar.

I need to jog around the block a few times.
At this time of year, I use my heirloom tomatoes, diced, fresh sweet and thai basil, fresh oregano, garlic, s & p, drizzled with some truffle oil, piled on top of a crusty friselle.

Hey Chipchick, I just tried this today ............. not too bad, .... but very messy (sticky).

I found I had to use one hand to eat the popcorn, and the other (clean hand) for my drink.
