James Arness has ridden off into the sunset.

What a great show "Gunsmoke" was!

Wow I thought he had been dead for years

RIP James Arness.

He was a little before my time, but an undeniably great actor. It may be true that he got his big break with Gunsmoke, but I will most remember him for his role as the lead actor in The Godfather.

Wow!! He will be missed. Looks like James and Festus will be back together again.

This is spooky. This morning I was watching an episode of Match Game from around 1974 or so, and Amanda Blake (Miss Kitty) was a guest panelist. I was thinking about her and wondering when she died (couldn't remember, but it was cancer), and then I wondered if James Arness was still alive.

This afternoon I logged in here and found out he had just died. Spooky.
