James Arness RIP

Scary watching those old game shows and saying this and that person have passed on.

He was in the Godfather?
DonDiego is unaware of his appearance in The Godfather.

But James Arness did play the title-role in The Thing From Another World (1951).

Farewell, Mr. Arness.

...I will most remember him for his role as the lead actor in The Godfather.

Yeah, he was good in The Godfather, but I thought he was even better as that cute little alien in E.T.. He had to wear lots of makeup, of course, but his small stature made him perfect for the role.

"Mr. Dillon--Mr. Dillon" we will miss ya---

I have probably seen every Gunsmoke episode but I liked him in the sci-fi movie "THEM" about the large ants as well. The effects of radiation back in the 50's and 60's was just horrible.....
Radiation monsters accounts for more movies back then than I can think of.
I didn't realize his brother was Peter Graves, from Mission Impossible.

This is spooky. This morning I was watching an episode of Match Game from around 1974 or so, and Amanda Blake (Miss Kitty) was a guest panelist. I was thinking about her and wondering when she died (couldn't remember, but it was cancer), and then I wondered if James Arness was still alive.

This afternoon I logged in here and found out he had just died. Spooky.

That is spooky Sue. Amanda Blake passed away on August 16, 1989. There is a real cool website called imdb.com that you can do a search on any TV show or movie and it will give you facts about it or do a search by actor. It can be real addicting.

I love watching all those game shows myself. Especially match game and Joker's Wild.

I also use to love watching Press Your Luck. Now I like playing the slot machine!
Amanda Blake died from AIDS. She contracted the disease from her husband who was a bisexual.
Had the pleasure of working with Arness one summer when I worked in the studios (college years) and he was very approachable and just an all around nice guy. Remember him showing up at one of my Dad's yearly studio parties (believe he was with John Wayne and Ward Bond at that time).

"Them" was the last SciFi I watched for many years, it was that scary at the time!
