January gaming revenue falls 7.7 percent on the Strip, 2.8 percent statewide

From NOAA
A powerful winter storm hit the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast from January 22-24, with snow falling from Arkansas to Massachusetts, impacting more than 100 million people. Several cities, including Baltimore, Maryland and New York City, set new all-time snowfall records. Impacts were widespread with power outages, more than 13,000 flight cancellations and severe coastal flooding. On the Northeast Snowfall Impact Scale (NESIS), the storm rated as a Category 4 (Crippling) winter storm and ranked as the fourth most impactful winter storm since 1950. Only winter storms in 1993, 1996, and 1960 ranked higher.
It can also be a symptom of the strip's continued focus on non-gaming revenue. I'd be interested to see if that's gone up or down.

In any event - this news changes nothing for me. I haven't given any serious play to Las Vegas Blvd since Slots-a-Fun closed down its craps table.
January had the CES show - 175,000 attendees. It also has the SHOT Show 60,000 attendees - so January is actually a busy month. The Northeast had one storm in January this year, the rest of the month was mild. Last year the Northeast had continuous snowfall all winter.

The Super Bowl has been on the first Sunday in Feb for a while.

Last years SuperBowl was Feb 1st so the crowd was there for the last weekend in January. This years crowd came in February.
The late January storm caused 13,000 flights to be canceled, and was the worst storm since 1993. It was also quite widespread, affecting planes from Georgia to Maine.
You also may have had one less casino on the Strip as the Riveria shut down. Was the SLS open last January?
Downtown, was the old Lady luck open last year?

The strip's gaming revenue was down 8% the last six months of 2015 per data offered by UNLV.
Were there continuing snow storms back east the last 6 months of 2115?
